Honeymoon included in wedding budget?

I've been including our honeymoon in our wedding budget, but my sister says that you're supposed to have a separate budget. So what's the sitch, ladies? Did you include your honeymoon in your wedding budget, or keep it separate?

First thing I did was to take the honeymoon money OUT of the budget, underlined it (I did it by hand at first) and said "Honeymoon, $XXXX, not to be touched!" Told FH that we will skimp on other things to make sure the honeymoon money doesn't get touched.

Fortunately, bands are free family rings.

Honeymoon and rings are included in our budget. I’ve accounted for every last dollar wedding related into our budget. I think including or not including it is a personal preference!

I will say ours is still "in budget" just we knew we will for sure have 5k our honeymoon budget is if we earn more to cover a honeymoon too. Otherwise there will be no honeymoon (which I am fine with). So that's why ours is not in the budget. If the for sure money was more than 5K we would of had it in the same budget. We do have plans though to save an additional 1-2K for the honeymoon that's why I always tell people our wedding will between 5-7k.

I agree, it's confusing. Especially when you see examples of real weddings for under 10k, 5k, 1k etc. I Didn't include honeymoon in the budget because my husband planned it and it's 4 months after the wedding. Also a honeymoon can include so many subcategories (airfare, hotel, rental car, food, day trips, etc). Also didn't include my band since it was already purchased/paid for (w/ engagement ring) before we started planning.

We kept everything together, in one spreadsheet. We see the honeymoon as a "continued celebration" of our wedding Smiley smile It was easier to look in one place.
