FH and I have decided to scrap our original honeymoon plans to Mexico now that we have postponed the wedding until he starts his new (AMAZING) job. lol. We will be able to afford something nicer than just 3 nights in Mexico like we originally planned! We have both always wanted to go to Ireland, but we are also considering Hawaii for the beach type honeymoon. Ireland is our first choice but we are comparing pricing/things to do. I have never been anywhere so I am so excited but have no idea where to start! Any tips from those who have booked honeymoons to either place? Any great places to book through or must see things? Thanks Smiley heart

Ireland will probably be cheaper but Hawaii is certainly beautiful. Depends what kind of honeymoon you are looking to have. You can always save Hawaii for an anniversary down the road!

Ireland! To me Hawaii is a trip that's doable anytime, even with a family. So I'd go for something special like Ireland!

I think Hawaii is probably better for a honeymoon since you can relax and be pampered, unless you think it'll be one or the other, period...never been to Ireland but Europe in general is an amazing experience you should have but requires a little more attention and you'll want to be out and about sightseeing instead of...other things haha Smiley tongue

Oh and for stuff to do, don't stay in Honolulu, at least not the whole time!

Do a luau and hit the beaches on the north shore of Oahu, or if you go to Maui be sure to stay some time in Lahaina, then do the Road to Hana (amazing) and then stay in Hana for a bit.

    Have fun!

I got engaged in Hawaii and Hawaii is truly for lovers. You will get the ultimate honey moon experience due to Hawaii catering to newlyweds. If you are looking for romance pick Hawaii.

Ireland for sure! My FH and I are going to Iceland because he doesn't like the beach. I don't think it has to be go go go. Do some walking tours, or explore the town/city you are staying in without a tour. It can be just as relaxing if you choose for it to be! We are doing about three big things and then spending the rest of the time laying back.

It's so hard to say. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Ireland, but I'm like 95% Irish, so you know it's in my blood. Things to consider, Ireland is cold and wet most of the year, Hawaii is warm and sunny, so do you want to go to the beach or to an amazing country that you will really love. We are getting married in Hawaii, neither of us have been, but I definitely want to go to Europe sometime in the future with my FH.

I would say Ireland is amazing, but it's not as relaxing as Hawaii could be. Also right now Hawaii would most likely cost a bit less-you could even get a package deal.

Ireland is my DREAM! I lived on board a ship and went to many tropical climates. With the Caribbean being so close, to the US it’s always a more accessible option. I’d say go for the dream. Be mindful of what the weather will be like during your time of travel though. There are often incredible, flight included deals to Ireland on Groupon 😉

I'd do Ireland! I'm not a beach person, and since visiting Ireland 4 years ago I've been dying to go back. Beaches are pretty but for me there is nothing more beautiful than the Cliffs of Moher. Last time we went I did some hiking along the cliffs there and along the cliffs in Northern Ireland. It was amazing. Yes it can be a bit more fast paced, but you can always just avoid the big cities and visit the more laid back countryside. I'm hoping we'll be able to go back for our honeymoon next February but I've got to convince my FH to skip the beach!
