Honeymoon in Hawaii

Samantha, on May 21, 2019 at 10:40 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

Hi,

Our wedding isn't until July 2020, but we've been thinking about our honeymoon a little bit and we're seriously considering Hawaii. We like the idea that we can be active, while also being able to relax. When is the best time to go? We're thinking of waiting until September because I heard it can be a little cheaper and a little less crowded? What islands do you all recommend? I think we're going to try to stick to 2 so it doesn't get overwhelming, but we are having a hard time narrowing it down. Are 2 weeks enough? Too much? We are from Chicago so we have to give at least 2 days for travel there and back. We welcome any suggestions/recommendations!

We are going this July after our wedding! We are spending 3 nights in Maui and 4 in Oahu. So I think 2 weeks is more than enough, and you could potentially see 3 islands during that time. My fiance has never been to Hawaii, so we wanted to do those islands so we get all the touristy things in. I've heard Kauai is beautiful and a lot less tourists, the big Island is really great if you want to see those volcanic rocks & volcanoes, and my father is going to Lanai Four Seasons soon because it's a super secluded island with a small population and supposed to be really authentic Hawaii. I do agree, the off season would be not the summer or not around the holidays!

We spent our second anniversary in Hawaii. It was a dream come true! We were only in Maui but honestly it was the trip of a lifetime. We went late September and it wasn’t too crowded or hot. Did activities and excursions almost every day but still had time to get a nice tan and stroll around the town and eat and shop. Highly highly recommend!!!

I've only been to Oahu and I was less than impressed. Once you leave the airport in Honolulu things get shady quickly until you get to the hotels along the beach. Get a street or two away from the beach and honestly, it seems like a very dirty, unkempt place. Not to mention, people drive like absolute maniacs. While we were there, we met a Canadian couple who highly recommended Maui.

I think we were definitely considering Maui, have heard a lot of good things about that island. Just having a hard time figuring out a potential 2nd island

Hi Samantha! Did you decide on a second island yet? When will you go on your honeymoon?
