Honeymoon ideas

Kevin, on January 13, 2020 at 2:05 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15
My fiancé and I have no idea where to honeymoon to. We love the outdoors but hate the beach so anywhere tropical is out. He also gets really bad motion sickness and vetoed the cruise option. We are outdoorsy people and would go camping but it’s not glamorous enough enough for a honeymoon. Any ideas that you have done or heard of people doing? Our honeymoon is going to be mid October.

We prefer the mountains over the beach, so we're getting a cabin in Waynesville, NC and spending our time in Maggie Valley, Asheville, and Cherokee for different activities. We'll also spend a lot of time at the cabin just spending time alone together and using the hot tub!

My vote is for Costa Rica. Lots of outdoor activities without having to be at the beach. Hiking, ATVs, zipline, kayak, volcanoes, massages Smiley love

You could look into glamping somewhere! I think that's still romantic. Or you could spend a few days in a hotel then a few days camping. What about Ireland? Or Spain? Or Italy? If you want to stay in the US, maybe Wyoming or Montana or Colorado?

The Azores. It's a cluster of islands off Portugal. Not beachy- lots of hiking, natural hot springs, whale watching, etc. We went in October 2016 and it was incredible inexpensive.

Depends on if you want to get out of the country or not, but if you want to stay local, you could try the old-fashioned National Parks route.

Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands, New Mexico are nice in October, when it won't be too hot out. You can watch the bats fly out of the caves through October, and go "sledding" in White Sands.

There's also the old honeymoon standby's, like The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Niagara Falls, Mount Rushmore, etc.

You could also go relax at a hot springs, like Pagosa Springs, CO. You can also hike there, rent a cabin, etc. And then drive to Durango, which isn't too far away, for a nice little getaway at a nicer resort near the river. There are plenty of places to vacation from the top of CO to the bottom. Same could be said about California or Florida, too. Hope this helps a bit!

We're going to Estes Park, Colorado for ours. The Smokey Mountains would be a good choice too.

Are you looking to stay local in your state, the US or outside of the US? I personally think your honeymoon is whatever you want it to be. There's no right or wrong just whatever works for you and your FH.

We spent a few days in Sedona/Phoenix area this past November and it was beautiful! There were lots of places to hike and you could even still kayak that tine of year as it's still pretty warm in October. We also visited a few wineries and breweries in the area as well. Sedona is also known for the healing/positive energies from the rocks around the town and what better way to start your marriage than spending time in a space known for positive energy!?
