Hi All,

So my FH gets terrible air sickness. We went to my cousin's wedding in February in TX and the flight from Pittsburgh was just torturous for him - poor guy threw up 4 times each way Smiley sad I don't want him to have to worry about a plane for our honeymoon, so I'm looking for USA suggestions that we can drive to from Pennsylvania. I was thinking Nova Scotia or somewhere in the Carolinas but I don't know much about those places. Does anyone have suggestions?

Check out Asheville, NC! The Biltmore Estate is an absolutely beautiful visit, and the area is becoming more known for its breweries. It's in the mountains so definitely more of a country feel than a city or beach town. I went as a teenager and really want to go back as an adult. Depending on where you're driving from in the Pittsburgh area, it's about an 8 hour drive so pretty reasonable!

I second Asheville, North Carolina! You can easily rent a private cabin a little outside the city, so you get that country feel but can still go into the city and enjoy the other unique attractions. Plus, there’s great hiking spots and you’re not far from Brevard, which has lots of wonderful waterfalls. Nearby Hendersonville North Carolina has an adorable Main Street that’s always fun to visit. As an earlier post I mentioned, you’ve also got the Biltmore.

You can always do a road-trip to Florida (we flew into Miami but my parents drive down every year.) There's so much to do! My fiance and I did that last year. We visited Miami and went down to Key West, stayed on the boardwalk in Hollywood Beach, went to see the everglades, stopped at Naples then went to Cocoa Beach, finished with Orlando (went to Universal).

Like someone already said you can go to the Smokey Mountains and get a cabin. We're doing that next month so I can let you know how that goes.

Or you can drive up to Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor in Maine. Lots to do, amazing food, lots of places to hike and such a friendly little town. (One of our favs!)

Or you can go down to the Carolinas or Georgia. Lots to do and Savannah is one of my favorite places too!

There's also upstate NY (lake george) its a little more low-key but also beautiful and lots to do. (we rented a private boat and cruised the lake. super fun!)

Or Niagara Falls but you have to go into Canada to get the best view! We did that too. Went to see the Falls then road-tripped to Quebec, Montreal and Ottawa. Lots of places to see and explore. Awesome food!

Hope this helped! Let me know if you have any questions!

I’m a North Carolina native. The beaches are awesome and so are our mountains. I’d also like to say that Virginia is awesome for both of those things as well if you didn’t want to drive as far as the Carolinas. But in NC, some of my favorite places are Boone, Asheville, Morganton, and Emerald Isle. The first 3 are mountain areas and are gorgeous. They’re also fun quirky towns with lots of art and breweries.
