I don’t know of anywhere in the contiguous US where a beach will be warm in December, sorry.

We were set on a beach destination as well, but have decided to keep it simple and go to the Texas Hill Country. We’re staying in Gruene, getting massages, antique shopping, going to Gruene Hall... 4 hour drive for us, so that’s a plus! I know it’s not a beach, but there’s an idea that doesn’t involve flying. Best of luck! I hope you get your dream honeymoon! Smiley smile

Unless you are willing to fly to Hawaii or to Puerto Rico, there is not a US beach that will be even close to "warm or hot" in December....since you aren't willing to fly and won't do a cruise, I'm really at a loss for suggestions.

There are lots of places you could go within driving distance, and sure you could go to a beach and enjoy being on a beach/sand/relaxing but as you said, you won't want to be in the water.

Having lived on the gulf in Florida, the water is warm pretty much year round. My first Christmas in Florida was 85 degrees... And the following ones were pretty close to that. If you stick to Florida you should be able to find something.

Destin is hit or miss on how warm it is in December. One day it’s 75 degrees and the next day it’s 40. I can remember Christmas’ where we were running around in shorts and t-shirts and other years where it was windy and cold. You never know. On the plus side, you’re going in the off season so it will be more economical and easier to get into restaurants.

If a warm beach is worth the drive, you could drive further south into Florida- Sanibel Island, Clearwater, or Naples. Or drive really far and go to the keys- Islamorada or all the way to Key West.

Mexico or maybe California. You can wait to do your honeymoon.

I would say Mexico but I wouldn’t chance driving to your destination, so that’s a no. Some friends of ours got held up doing that a few years back. If you want to go in December, won’t fly, and won’t cruise, there really aren’t many (any) options for a guaranteed nice, warm beach. I live in California and I know nothing here will be hot and sunny then. Maybe occasionally but not consistently enough to plan a vacation on it.

I don't want to sound rude, but if you won't fly, no one here can be of any help to you. Unfortunately, nowhere in the US is consistently warm through the entire winter and we can't guarantee that it would be warm enough in December. Perhaps you could wait until spring for the honeymoon.

I think the only place you're going to have luck is south Florida, probably the Keys. That is going to be a serious drive but it's doable if you have the time for it!

Depending on what part of Texas you live in a what part of Florida you choose, you're looking at a possible 24 hour long drive. It's 16 hours from San Antonio to Atlanta, and six hours from Atlanta to Orlando. Even if you go I-10, South Florida we'll be the only possible location in Florida with warm weather during that time. I went to Pensacola in April last year and the water was way too cold to enjoy. Is there a particular reason other than fear that you don't want to fly, like cost? I don't think you will get what you want, and may need to make some compromises.

I have never traveled before so this is all new to me. Thank you 😀

I’m also terrified of heights and have anxiety and flying doesn’t affect me at all. I do get bad anxiety on the way to the airport and while waiting (mostly I think for fear of missing my flight or it being delayed/cancelled) but once I’m in the air I’m fine. Especially if you get an aisle seat you really can’t tell how far up you are. Since you’ve never done it before you might want to try a really short flight (somewhere you could drive back from if need be) and see how you do. You might surprise yourself. Doctors will even prescribe Xanax for before/during the flight if you’re worried.

I lived near Destin and sometimes it was in the 30s in December.
