Honeymoon help..New Zealand vs. South Africa

Talullah, on September 25, 2017 at 8:30 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7

FH and I were set on New Zealand for our honeymoon. We were speaking to the travel agent & a booklet for South Africa and Safari caught my eye.

Original plan was to traveling Auckland to Wellington doing whatever and going wherever we wanted with no itenirary. South Africa is a guided trip with 16 max people. It consists of Cape Town, Johannesburg, Victoria Falls and Zimbabwe.

I can't decide. I'm asking for some feedback on either or both places. What things did you like, love or hate? Would you go back or recommend someone to go there?

We plan on going October 2018. Thanks for any advice, help, or feedback you can give!

You can't go wrong with either. I would lean towards New Zealand because I like to travel on my own over group. Does the South Africa trip go through Kruger National Park on the way to Zimbabwe?

I believe it does go thru there on the way to Victoria Falls. I don't have the book with me right now, so I'm not 100% positive.

Doing independent travel will be easier in New Zealand, for sure.

However, just because the Africa tour lists that it has 16 passengers max, that doesn't necessarily mean there will be have that many people. It could actually be less than that. Ask what the minimum number of passengers is that the company will operate the tour with. If the minimum is only 2 passengers & it ends up just being you and your husband, then it will be like a private tour! If not, you will probably make friends with other adventurous, like-minded people like yourselves.

My fiance and I went to New Zealand for 12 days (14 including traveling time). We drove from Auckland to Wellington then flew to Dunedin and took a train to Queenstown. It was a very busy schedule but an amazing trip. If we hadn't gone already, it would be in our list for honeymoon places.

I have never been to New Zealand but I have been to South Africa. I stayed in a place called Hazyview. But Depending on your budget there are some gorgeous places to stay in and around Kruger park. I personally lived kruger park there was an abundance of animals. I was only in Kruger park for a day trip but we saw the big five all in one day! I definitely recommend South Africa
