Honeymoon Help! Can't Decide

Dayna, on May 15, 2020 at 12:51 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

We started with more than a 2 year engagement, and now we are finally less than a year out! Which means we can finally start making honeymoon plans! Flights just opened up for our dates, and we've narrowed it down to 2 ideas. So, if you went to either of these places for your honeymoon, I'd love some feedback. If you're willing to share a cost breakdown or list of activities you did that would also be amazing! (Also, we know that coronavirus could potentially force us to change plans, but for now, we are staying optimistic. We also decided to rule out international destinations due to potential travel restrictions)

Hawaii- obviously this is a super popular honeymoon spot. We are considering staying at a resort in Maui, and basically sticking to the resort other than day trips/excursions. Neither of us has ever been to Hawaii! We live in Florida, so we'd be looking for activities other than sitting on the beach all day.

Napa Valley/WIne Country - I went to Cali with my sister 2 years ago and fell IN LOVE with wine country. FH has never been. We only spent half a day in Napa, so I know there's way more to see. We would stay at a resort in Napa/Sonoma and again, mostly stick to the resort and nearby towns. Then we would probably drive up to see the Redwoods for a couple days and back to San Fran for the last 2-3 days.

I would 100% go with Napa Valley purely because it’s not a popular honeymoon destination! And you would definitely get a lot to do and see, plus the Redwoods are gorgeous!

I can't vouch for either about the finances but I am here to say HAWAII!! I'm always down for beachy honeymoon vibes! Good luck to you!

For honeymoon I suggest Maui! It’s lush, friendly, peaceful, it has empty secret beaches, it’s romantic, and not too many people in general!

Definitely 100% Hawaii, but Maui is CRAZY expensive, especially if you are considering an all inclusive package at the resort.

I’ve been to both (and our DW/mini-moon was in Napa). Buuuut, if you’ve never been to Hawaii I would probably choose that because of the costs you might not go there in the future. Both are stunning in their own way. 🏝 🌺

I’ve been to both— Maui all the way. Especially if neither of you have been. It’ll be a nice new place to experience together!

Like someone else mentioned though, it does get pricey.
