Honeymoon budget

Crisa, on January 28, 2019 at 11:44 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 42
Hi guys! Do you have a set budget for your honeymoon? I feel like with all the spending on the wedding I'm trying to put aside for the honeymoon too but it's a bit challenging. How are you guys balancing spending for both wedding and honeymoon?

We started out planning a much bigger wedding and weren't going to take our honeymoon until our 1 year anniversary. 10 months out from our wedding we realized what was most important to us so we cut the guest list down to 25 and fired our venue. Booked the banquet room at our favorite italian resturant for ceremony and reception. Kept all the glitz and glam we originally had planned. With the money saved we booked our 6 night all inclusive jamaica honeymoon and we r soooo glad we did.

My fh and I are doing extra things to help save up. Garage sale, selling things on Facebook marketplace, Christmas and birthday money, cash back from credit card rewards etc all go into honeymoon savings. So far we've saved up a third of our total planned expenditure and we still have till August to keep saving.

We are opting to skip some things and keep decor simple in order to have more money for the trip.

We are also also doing a honeymoon fund instead of a registry, which I know is considered the worst thing you can do on this forum, but I honestly don’t care.

FH and I chose two different honeymoons so we can pick one when we know a better estomate of how much we will have for it. We have an all inclusive resort and spa on the ocean in California as our "cheap" option. Probubly $**** for half a week or so and then our dream one is Ireland all inclusive about $6000 for a week I believe

We set aside 5K for our honeymoon.

We were very good and realistic about our budget. We didn't go into debt, we planned for 16 months to have the wedding and the honeymoon we wanted.

That's awesome!!! It seems like a great deal to be honest. I feel the same about spending more on the honeymoon and food.

It’s so easy to get swept away on all the glitz and glam of a wedding. But I’m the end we decided we don’t want to blow all our money on a party and have nothing left for the honeymoon. So we picked a few details on the wedding to focus on that were important to us (food, photography) and did everything else on strict budget. In the end, it’s really about coming together to celebrate us. You can still have a beautiful wedding and a fun party without spending a fortune.
Our venue is stunning on its own, so needs very little decor.
We’re not doing favors, or brunch, or gift bags.
We’re doing free online invitations from paperless post.
I got lucky and my bff happened to have a beautiful second wedding dress she never wore, so she’s giving it to me. But if she didn’t I was thinking of getting a second hand dress for a fraction of the price.
I don’t want to spend a fortune on flowers so I’m doing a winter theme with lots of greenery some pincones and a few white roses. (Look on Pinterest, it’s so pretty) But if that’s not your thing, I had a friend who saved a ton by using lots of candles instead of flowers and it was gorgeous! Plus you can use silk flowers from some home goods store that look very genuine. There was a recent post here about that and her bouquets were stunning!

I was way too overwhelmed worrying about coordinating budgets and planning for the wedding and honeymoon together. We will go somewhere big later and I'm so relieved our funds will be a little more flexible and I'll have more energy and time to focus on that trip. I hope to take some delayed honeymoon within the first year of marriage.

I expect it'll be 3,000-5,000 for an overseas trip. I am thinking of a minimoon somewhere between 500-1,000 right after for a night or two. Less pressure to plan something grand and small enough it's not thown into chaos if last minute wedding things cost money.

We went in planning to spend $6000. We officially booked the resort in December and it is totaled at $4500. Our travel agent expects our flights to be close to $1000 total. We had hoped to take 1-2 thousand with us for excursions or shopping so I guess we will just see what will be left.

Also we are getting married in June and leaving for our honeymoon in November because I did not want to compromise on either and we couldn't afford to do both in June. I wish now we had pushed the wedding till November as well but it will be nice to still have something to look forward to after the wedding.

We figured out what the wedding would cost as well as the honeymoon and are saving for both at the same time. We know we need about 10k for the honeymoon and 10k for the wedding so we are budgeting accordingly.

Our wedding date is set for 3-1-2020, but we won’t take a honeymoon till the summer (June/July)! Post pone your honey moon a bit, and search on Groupon for your dream vacation!!

Depending on where you are looking and what you already have, it can range from 500+. We are fortunate to have a family property up north in michigan so we are only spending money on filling the camper with food and anything we may want to do while up there.

We did the whole YOLO approach to honeymoon planning and were at the point where its kinda getting scary. Haha, i know we wont regret it because its 2 weeks in europe and weve both never been.. but we have a $7500 cruise bill coming up and thats a hard pill to swallow 130 days out from the wedding. whoops. Luckily we already own a home and are pretty well established so theres not that newlywed scramble afterwards

Thanks! Yeah I let FH choose, mine would be Fiji but Ireland will be amazing too! Ireland would be a lot of tourist walking and learning so maybe need a break after to relax before work haha, the beach resort would be just straight relaxing and pampering
