Honest opinion on chairs

@brd2be, on January 10, 2017 at 11:06 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24

So these are the chairs that our venue offers for rent. We would get 135 of them for $150, which I am finding is a steal compared to what it costs to rent a garden or ballroom chair. I was dead set against these at first because they are so plain and feel more office like to me but now seeing that we would have to pay 4-7$ a piece to rent different ones, I am starting to reconsider. I really thought about every wedding I have ever been to and I cannot remember what the chairs looked like at any of them. And I feel like coats and other things are going to be covering them anyways. I don't know - am I overthinking it? Would love honest opinions. The venue is very industrial looking so I am thinking it might be fine. From pictures it seems like most people rent garden chairs for the venue but a few have used these and it looks okay.

Those chairs are fine. Unless they're gross, nobody cares about chairs.

I don't think those are bad at all. I am sure the upgraded ones are really nice but it's a lot of money for just chairs. If you have the budget go for it! I hate the chairs at my venue. Ceremony are pretty but reception are yuck!! It's $10 per chair not counting tax and resort fees so we decided not to do it. It would have been a couple thousand dollars. I figure with everything else nobody is going to notice chairs. These are our chairs. Meh...

Another vote for no one will care or notice! I attached a pic of the ones that come with my venue. I'm not wild about them and I don't like the look of chair covers. My mom was dead set on chiavari chairs (she's paying and is definitely the one to deviate from the budget) until she looked at the cost! We put half that money into draping and linens and I think that will make more of a statement than chairs!

Thank you all for confirming my feelings! All of the expenses are quickly adding up so I'm happy to save on this!

I think you'll be fine with these chairs. Stay within your budget. Many people probably won't pay attention

Lots of people don't care - but I notice chairs (see my profile pic which features the ceremony venue chairs!).

When my FI and I started looking at venues I told him I would veto anywhere with ugly chairs unless the budget allowed for nicer chair rentals (I also hate covers). It's totally my "thing" when it comes to aesthetics. And most people think it's unreasonable. But there are at least a few of us out there who notice.

That being said, I don't judge anyone for not choosing to upgrade and if it isn't in your budget, don't break the bank.

I think the people who care about chairs are the photographers/wedding planners so they can get their pretty pictures of the tables. Guests won't care as long as they are comfortable. And you probably won't care because your photos will be of the people, not the tablescapes.

I'll be honest, I would actually rent different ones. Those are the exact chairs in the classrooms at my graduate school. So, I really wouldn't want them at my wedding reception. But, that's probably just me.

I thought about our chairs for way too long and realized it really doesn't matter. I think they're perfectly fine! especially with your type of venue. I wouldn't go out of your budget for different ones

If it's in your budget, upgrade. If not, stick with them. There are worse things than ugly chairs.

No one will care. I can't even remember the chairs from my venue last week, and I'm there about three times a month.

AD, really? They care about the chairs?

    Wild.

Those will be fine, the only reason we have pretty chairs is because they come with the venue

I think it's totally fine! I feel like that's going to be the one thing people will not remember! Every wedding I have been to I don't ever remember the chairs. A lot of your younger guests will be up dancing most of the time anyway Smiley smile

@fall bride thanks for the input. I have sat in them and they are actually pretty decent, they are not padded for sure but the garden chairs we would be looking at renting barely have any padding and truthfully dont seem that comfortable either. The chiavari are definitely out of our budget.

I'd have to say spring for nicer chairs. They just don't look comfortable or very nice for a wedding. If it's in your budget do it. But where I am the nice white folding chairs start at 95 cents a chair. So it's a lot easier for me to say get nicer chairs.
