Homemade veil?? Help!

Amina, on May 17, 2019 at 2:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Hey Ladies! I’ve had my heart set on a cape veil instead of a traditional one that goes on your head. My dress is a V-cut in the front and back and I’m hoping to have my veil connect to the shoulder straps of my dress with like a brooch pin. Found a few good contenders but they’re all on Etsy with no way to check them out before I buy or returns. I’m a very creative and artistic person and I was thinking of possibly making my own cape veil and saving hundreds of $$. Anyone try something like this or making their own traditional veil that has some pointers?? More simple than the example picture, maybe a beaded edge I can sew to the bottom edge

Your dress looks cute! That's the exact type of veil I wanted but I ran into the same issue as you. The Cape veils I found that were not on etsy were like 600, ugh. There are a few on Amazon that you could try, depending on your style...
Stylish Tulle Cape Veil Cathedral Length Lace From Shoulder to Floor For Bridal 2018 (Ivory, 3Meter) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0796SHGXP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9kW3CbC4FXRN0

I searched Cape veil and found a few. If you're looking to do plain tulle, I don't think it would be terribly difficult. I don't think you even necessarily have to sew/hem tulle, you can just cut neatly.

Also, I just found this thread. I didn't read it completely but maybe it will help.

I made a traditional cathedral veil pretty similar to that, and I'm a seamstress generally. Feel free to ask anything.

So this might be a STRETCH so bare with me lol but have you thought of maybe buying a traditional veil that has a bottom lace trim of your liking, snipping off the comb piece (I think the gathered fabric from the base of the comb would be wide enough to reach crossed the straps of your dress), then make a triangle cut down the center like your inspo pic.? Fold the raw edges over and sew them with a clear thread to make a nice clean edge and attach to your dress with a broach like you were saying.

I recently bought a gorgeous veil on amazon for 12 bucks and cut it to the length that i wanted and it turned out great. Even if it didn't I spent like nothing on it so it was totally worth a shot!

Have you looked at Wish? I went on their website and searched "cape veil" and a bunch came up for around $25. If you look and see one you like, you'd have to order ASAP as they come from China and can take 2-3 months to come in.
