Holiday weekend weddings, yay or nay?

It seems like there's a wedding on Memorial Day/Labor Day every year for me and I'm getting a little tired of it, but I know some people see it as more time to travel to and from the wedding. What are your thoughts?

I never go away on weekends like that unless something comes about last minute. My good friend is getting married next Memorial Day and I couldn't be more excited!

Hello! I am actually getting married the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and I haven't had any complaints. I actually prepared myself for having a lower guest count (even hoped that would happen)

I was honestly more worried about it being during the UGA/GT football game than I was the holidayXD

I thought about labor day but almost everyone was traveling for our wedding and flights were at least 25% more for that weekend. Also vendors are usually more expensive, just because they can be. We settled on the weekend after labor day and it was perfect. Everyone got a 3 day weekend for labor day and then the next weekend was a getaway vacation. It also helped us in planning and packing to have the 3 day weekend before our wedding.

Since my family has a lot of get togethers over major holidays, it would be hard for me to go to a wedding unless it was a very close friend or a family member! If it was just an acquaintance I would more than likely RSVP no.

If it's something like Labor Day or Memorial Day weekend. I don't really mind. I've never been one to make or attend cookout or vacation plans for those holidays and, until recently, those were never really holidays for me anyway, because I didn't work a job that made those holidays.

If it's something like Christmas or Thanksgiving, I'll have to be really close to you/the wedding should be in town or I will likely decline. Not to say you can't have your weddings on those days, but depending on a number of factors, you might not get as many guests as other days.
