Whut? Let's discuss. If I'm not going to be charged for anything, why do I need to give them my card? Has anyone else gone through HI?

If honestly is completely different at each hotel. My block at Hampton Inn required a credit card to make the Master account. This way we can call and say I want to pay for Grandma's room, place the charges on the master. We're not responsible for any rooms that don't sell. They are just going to release the remaining rooms 40 days out.

OMG there are so many conflicting answers on this! I guess it really is on a case by case basis.

I had to put one down but only to hold the rooms. Basically showing that I was serious about needing the rooms. I won't be charged for damages or in filled rooms.

One of the hotels we were considering for OOT guests asked us to do the same. I was like wtf for what I don't get it and if they don't go and you try to charge my card umm no thanks.Luckily my moms neighbor works at another hotel really close by and is helping us now and giving us a great deal and not asking for credit cards.

They wanted my card as well and told me that whatever rooms aren't booked, I will be charged for them.

I used a Holiday Inn Express as well and did a courtesy block so no cc required.

I got blocked booking through the Holiday Inn Express and Suites and they did not require a credit card (to my pleased surprise), they are holding the rooms for me up to 30days before check in and then they are just going to free them up with no charge to us.

If I wanted them to hold extra rooms I had to give one. The courtesy block and told them to book early (if we need more it's fine, as long as they gave space

Nether hotels that I'm using required my credit card. I would also stay clear of hotels that will charge you if you don't book a certain number of rooms.

For the hotel I chose, they have to put my credit card on file but that is only to pull the rooms out of public circulation. They are not charging me. It's only so the rooms can be held for the guests

Holiday Inn wouldn't give me a courtesy block. I decided to not block rooms with them because of it. One of my bridesmaid's families owns Holiday Inn hotels in a different state, and she told me that the corporation discourages courtesy blocks, and most managers can't offer them. That didn't change my mind on not going through with the block.

You always need a credit card to reserve a room....for one or thirty.

But I'm not actually reserving rooms - it's a courtesy block, not an actual reservation or booking. I'm not even staying at that hotel myself.

However, the bank card I would use for this is for my checking acct at a bank that I'm actually switching out of, meaning that in about a month I won't even have that account anymore and if they tried to charge the card it would just decline. So, that's an option, I guess.

I want to use this hotel because they offer a free shuttle to my venue for my guests. The sales rep hasn't returned my email yet, so I'm still waiting to find out if I can do it without a credit card.

I booked at Hilton, Holiday Inn and Best Western and none required a credit card. 75% of FH and about 20% of my family are OOT. And some of my in town family and friends want to block a room.

I did not give a credit card. Find a courtesy block - you don't want to be responsible for any of that.

I imagine they hold your card in case anything gets damaged. Also, isnt there a rule where if you dont fill so many rooms they can charge you?
