What gives? I'm genuinely curious why some couples choose to take sex out of the equation entirely until their wedding night/honeymoon. I don't mean couples that haven't lost their virginity yet, but couples who are putting a stop to an otherwise active sex life.

Someone please enlighten me, I am so curious!

I have given up sex for lent and christ it is hard, really really hard. Both me and FH are very tactile plus have high sex drives. (We had to come up with a 'deal' he let me do it as long as BJ and handjobs were allowed - which actually is hard because then I get more frustrated. And that I am never allowed to do it ever again)

But I have always struggled with having sex outside of marriage, massive guilt with it (I'm that sort of Catholic) and felt that I needed to this Lenten time

Could I do it all the way to the wedding? No, I just couldnt do it, either to myself or to FH. We would get too frustrated and would end up taking it out on one another.

However I cant say what will happen just before the wedding (I mean like a week before) - I may feel the need to or may decide that I dont.

My husband I never had sex before we got married, it was extremely hard to do but we did it. We are both christians and we are not allowed to live together before we are married so that helped. It took alot of self control but sure waited and it was very special on our wedding night and from that day until now evey night is so special.

We are only going 2 weeks before to build the anticipation, besides 1 of those weeks I'll be out of commission and 1 week we will have guests.

I have a pretty low sex drive and I already tend to feel bad about it. So when I want sex, we're having sex.

Had the "should be living apart" comment from his priest already. I asked if he was planning on paying the bills for a second apartment and car and all that for us, because we certainly can't afford that. I also don't care if we're expected to be chaste or anything like that. I'm not religious, so those restrictions mean nothing to me, anyway.

There are plenty of other ways to build anticipation and make it special than not having sex for some arbitrary time beforehand. It's the first time you'll be having sex as a married couple and you'll have just gotten married. That right there makes it special.

We are just doing it to build the level of excitement. We live together, have sex often so we just thought it would be something special.

Nope, I think if we ever need some stress relief it will be the weeks leading up to the wedding. We are spending the night before apart, so we are abstaining for at least a day Smiley smile

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
