Hobby Lobby vs. Michaels??

Now Mrs.S, on March 24, 2013 at 5:42 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

I hadn't heard of Hobby Lobby before WW. Is it better than Michael's or are they basically the same? If they are different, how so?I found one about an hour away so it's doable if necessary, just thought I'd ask before making the trip!

A lot of people seem to be a huge fan because of the deals and discounts they have. I don't have one close enough to me to compare but I like Michael's okay. I usually go to a place around me called Garden Ridge. Got my flowers from there

I say they are the same but you really should shop at both if you can. I didn't like any of the FG baskets at Michael's but immediately found some at Hobby Lobby on my first trip. But, if you don't want to drive an hour you'll be fine. Just remember they're closed on Sundays before you make the trip.

Hobby Lobby is both home decor and arts and crafts and everything is always on sale and way cheap. And if it's not on sale, there is always a weekly 40% off coupon for you to use. I LOVE it!

Micheal's is more of an all arts and crafts store. They have coupons often too.

I spend way more time in Hobby Lobby than Michael's and they are right across the street from each other in my area.

I created a lot of my DIY stuff from hobby lobby. you get great discounts AND they always have the wedding section on sale for 50% off. i racked up on items when they have the sale..Michaels are good too but for me they are a little expensive..they have coupons you can use too..so both stores have good deals..but i prefer hobby lobby..

Hobby Lobby has a lot of weekly sales. Sometimes it's their wedding section is 50% off, their flowers also got 50% off a lot. Their picture frames are always 50%off. Oh and you can always print out a 40% off one item coupon. I have gotten way more deals there than Michaels. Look at the ad and print a coupon out before you go!

They are both GREAT, and you should check them both out if you have them close. Hobby Lobby does 50% the wedding section, glass sale (all kinds of vases), floral stems. Michael's has 50% off the floral stems sometimes too. Both have coupons all the time 40% a regular priced item (on holidays a lot of the time Michael's will do a 50% coupon).

I recently went to Hobby Lobby for the first time. It's pretty much like Michael's on crack, lol. I was in there forever, aimlessly roaming around looking at all the stuff!

I think it is worth the trip if you have multiple items to get, and like the other ladies said, definitely print out a coupon beforehand!

I don't think there is a Hobby Lobby near here. I go to Michael's occasionally. I go to Joann Fabrics more often. I oil paint, crochet and sew. You can't get much sewing stuff from Michaels. You can't get much oil paint stuff from Joann. You can get yarn and hooks from both, but Joann tends to have a better selection plus larger skeins.

I love hobby lobby wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more than micheals due to the fabric selection, ribbon selection, sales, sculpting clay, and other random stuff they have there.

I just feel like Hobby Lobby has a wider selection of brands and products.

Hobby Lobby sales run on a 3-week rotation with one of the major 3 departments being on sale each week. So if, for say, you are looking for bridal dept. and it's not on sale this week, it will be one of the next two. They follow the same rotation - unless there is a major holiday week, like week before Christmas - so once you find the week, it's not hard to know when it will go again. Of course you can always check for their weekly add on-line or call the store direct and ask.
