hmua Day of timeline questions

HayMrsO, on October 8, 2018 at 1:04 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 16

So my HMUA sent me a timeline for the day of. Our wedding is at 3:30pm. No travel time, we will get married at the same place she is going the services. I have one person that will do both hair and makeup. She will do myself, MOH, BM hair and makeup and then my mom's makeup only.

She wants to arrive at 11am. Do MOH first, then BM, then mom and then me. Only an hour for both hair and makeup for each person, 1/2 hour for moms makeup.

Timeline says she will be all done by 2:45

So my question is, does that seem like enough time?
Second, she wants to do my services last. Is that normal? To have the brides hair and makeup done last?

I wish I had paid attention at my trial to remember how long it took her. I realize she does this for a living and she should know. I just don't want to be that bride that is in a rush because something happened and I am running late! Should I have her come earlier?

I’ve always heard that the bride should go first because if she is rushed, you don’t want your hair and makeup to be the one that gets rushed.

It depends, though bride is usually finished 1st. I'd prefer to be next to last since im very oily. Going to have a friend do my MOH & BM's, then mine last possibly my Mother if she'll agree to it. I know I'll probably have to be powdered again prior to walking down the aisle. If it's already a question as to her having to cut time from anyone. You definitely want to request a little earlier. Having extra sit around time never hurt anyone! Just remember to breathe, and enjoy the time with those surrounding you!

Just to be safe I would have her to come earlier to ensure there is enough time...

Yes, bride going last is normal! Usually the HAMU plan a little longer for the bride too. My HAMU plans for 45 minutes per service per girl.

When I was a bridesmaid at my friends wedding, she went first, and we followed after. It was about 6 of us girls and 2 of them working on our hair and make up. It took her about 5hours for them to finish. They started at 6am and finished right on time for the wedding around 11... they estimated way less time but somehow got behind.. I’d ask for more time because things always happen.

An hour for hair AND makeup, no way.. Takes about 45 min for makeup alone.

Our ceremony is at 4 pm and our HMUA will be arriving at 10 am. She will have the bride, MOH, 2 bridesmaids, MOB, and 3 little girls for hair services. The make up artist will then have services for the bride, MOH, 2 bridesmaids, and MOB. They anticipate having everyone ready no later than 2 pm. There is also no first look. The ceremony will start promptly at 4. I personally would want to have more time in my timeline as things do not always go smoothly the day of. During my daughters hair and makeup trial we started at 8 am and we were finished at 10. I know it should go quicker on the day of but I prefer to be prepared for set backs instead of being stressed out that everything will be running late.

I'm having my hair and makeup done last, but I guess it just depends.

My hair will be done first (stylist's request), so she can fix it if anything falls/needs more hairspray/bobby pins, whatever... and my makeup artist requested to do mine last, so that's how I did our schedule. as someone else already stated, I have 45 minutes set for each girl for each service, with some extra time allotted, just in case.

I’m having my hair and makeup done 2nd to last. This way of get off schedule I’ll be done to start pictures. Mine is starting at 10 to be done by 2:30 with 5 getting hair and 1 getting makeup. It’s just her. I feel like you’d be rushed for time with getting everyone done. I’d leave a little more time since it doesn’t always go as planned.

Yes it's normal for the bride to go last in many cases. They do this so the bride's hair and make up are freshest. If you're concerned, I would just ask her and see if she's open to coming at 10:00 instead to provide a cushion. Worst case with that is you're done a little early.

I have the same 3:30 event time as you and the same # of people getting hair and makeup. We're having one person do hair and another do make up so we have a start time of about 11:20am and are expected to finish up around 2:00. We have our photographer coming at 2 so we have time to do photos before our cocktail hour begins. In the timeline, I have my hair getting done first and my makeup getting done last. I think timing really depends on how elaborate your hairstyle will be. My hairstylist has about 50 minutes blocked out for hair and the makeup artist has about 40 mins blocked out for makeup. You may want to schedule your person to come a little earlier to make sure everything gets done on time 30 mins each for hair and makeup seems a little short to me.

My ceremony was at 3 but I wanted to be ready by 1 for first look pictures and most of the pictures with wedding party and VIPs. We had 1 HMUA for me and my 3 bridesmaids but they only got their makeup done. She came at 9. I was the last and she allowed 2 hours for my hair and makeup.

I was done first so that the photographer could start photos with me getting ready, and as BM’s we’re done, they were added to the photos. I would definitely plan for more time as there’s always something that comes up with timing....you’re pulled in a few different directions prior too, so it’s best to make sure you're done and squared away, so if there are any issues with timing, equipment, whatever, it’s not going to mess you up. The HMuA May have worked on you, but she hasn’t had trials with the other girls and that will take up more time than you think, especially if you have that one BM that thinks she’s the bride.

My hair stylist took about an hour with me alone, then makeup took another 1/2 hour. I did go last and I do know a lot of brides who have said they went last as well.
