Hmm... what is your card box/holder at the wedding?

So with less than three months to go, it's time to finalize all the little details. My mom is obsessed with an idea of using a bird cage as our card holder. So with less than three months to go, it's time to finalize all the little details. My mom is obsessed with an idea of using a bird cage as our card holder. I do love this idea, but think it is a little random... maybe too vintag-y for our wedding? We don't have a theme. It's just a pretty classic, formal wedding! For the cocktail hour, guests escort cards are in front of different red wine bottles (with custom labels!)-- the wine bottle name is the table they will be at (e.g., instead of "Table 1" they will be at Table "Merlot" or "Pinot Noir", etc). But we aren't having a wine theme, we just thought it would be fun and different (and we both love wine, of course). I thought about instead of a bird cage, using a wine barrel like this one below. But my mom hated the idea Smiley sad she said it is too rustic and "country" for our wedding. Is she right? Also, I hate the price of these things... soo expensive! Smiley sad

Any other ideas? I guess I could do just a plain ole card box, buttttt idk.

I am partial to the mini wine barrel because that is what we will be using too! I opted to find a 5g/20L barrel online and I cut out the slot, and created a locking door on the backside to be able to get the cards out...to save a tiny bit of money. All the personalized ones I found were close to $200, so when i found the barrel for $100 I jumped.

It was one of my irrational spends, but hell we are officially under budget so I am glad I did. Just a note, I am having a country/rustic wedding

I love the barrel idea! I'm actually making mine right now, but it's just going to be a boring box with a slot in it. :-)

@Miss S Dot - I LOVE that one. I almost bought it myself.

We're doing a Gothic-looking birdcage (black with red roses on it) that I bought off Etsy.

FH made ours out of cardboard boxes and duct tape. It goes with our Star Wars reception theme!

I can't find a picture but I bought a cage with rounded top from Jo-Ann Fabrics in white and spray painted it gold.

I bought a big wooden lantern for my card box, my centerpieces are lanterns. I think you should go with the wine barrel, its cute, it coordinates with the table names and its YOUR wedding and YOU like it. You can also use it as a change jar / keepsake after the wedding .

I made one but it didn't turn out like I wanted it so I bought this! I love it and it's perfect size. The pic makes it look a lot bigger than it really is lol.

I like the whole "shabby chic" look I was thinking maybe something like a wooden crate painted white or blush....

What @Miss S Dot posted, I LOVE that card holder from BHLDN. I balk a bit at paying $50 for it, but it fits in with me and our wedding colors so well, I might have to go for it!

Mine is a glass terrarium - I know it will get broken because the lid swings all the way open - I just found this out yesterday when I took it out of storage.

@Miss S Dot - I went straight to bhldn.com when I saw you post. I NEED that! Thank you for making me want to spend $50 on something I originally didn't care about Smiley winking
