Hiring a calligrapher is also impersonal?

Thoughts? (FYI, I have no opinion either way on this issue.)

I personally wouldn't spend money hiring a calligrapher, but I'm kind of the artsy-craftsy type and I thought it would be a cool skill to learn. So I watched some YouTube videos and started practicing myself a couple months ago. DIY is not technically 'free', as I did have to purchase supplies-pens, ink, practice paper, etc., and I got a couple items that I later found out that I didn't necessarily need...

..but I think that kind of thing is fun.

I personally love beautiful calligraphy. Although I'm one of the few who would actually keep the outside portion of envelope.

I have horrible handwriting and would be completely illegible if I wrote it out myself. I think people need to get over the "write it yourself" for personal touch. Not like we don't have a million other things that we are adding personal touches to. Do it however works for you. And if other people don't like it, oh well

I would spend money on it if I had an unlimited budget, but for me it would be a choice between calligraphy or a better photographer....my envelopes will be pre-printed. Impersonal?? Only if I stretch my imagination...

I see the argument they're trying to make, but you still have to go through the process of selecting the calligrapher, which might take more effort and time than fixing labels onto envelopes. I guess that depends on how many invites you're sending though, lol.

It's not impersonal if you paid someone to do the calligraphy or paid someone with better handwriting. "Impersonal" does not mean you should have done it yourself. I would argue that address stickers/labels look less personal.

We did hire a calligrapher who did amazing work and actually was cheaper than having the envelopes printed (our printer wouldn't work so that wasn't an option), and so many people have commented on how beautiful our envelopes were and how they couldn't believe someone hand wrote the addresses. I actually found ours on Etsy and it cost $2 per invitation suite (guest address, return address, and RSVP envelope).

I used a calligrapher, but I also have a low guest count and terrible writing so why not. If I had 50+ guests I would probably try and find someone with good writing or take a class.

I think my mom bought a set and learned for my first wedding to create the escort cards.

Honestly I got to the idgaf moment for addresses. I was going to print on the envelope (just did for Xmas but no cod not work for something important) well it did not happen and I just printed nice font onto labels. Informal wedding do I am guessing Pele won't give 2 ducks about the label.

If I wrote the addresses I would get so worried thinking that the post office wouldn't be able to read it and it wouldn't make it to the destination. I am printing the addresses on clear labels. It is impersonal but I'll have peace of mind. Also I asked a few friends if they remember if the last invitation they got was hand written or printed and no one could remember

My hand writing is unreadable so in my mind whatever is legible

I'm probably just going to hand write mine. I know some of you printed straight onto the envelopes but that scares the crap out of me. I feel like I would print things upside down or crooked.
