Hindu/catholic Fusion Wedding

My fiance and I are getting married in April. I have been raised Catholic and he has been raised Hindu. We are hoping to have a fusion ceremony where we can have elements from both of our faiths to be meaningful to us as well as our families. We understand that our ceremony will most likely not be officially recognized but still want to blend elements from a Catholic and Hindu wedding ceremony. We are struggling on the best way to do this and was hoping there may be someone out there that can offer some feedback.

I’m not sure about specifics, but I’d think about scriptures/readings too. Ask your partner about weddings they’ve gone to of their faith and what elements or ceremonies were performed. I’d do the same for yours. Then you guys can narrow down together to a few elements that you want to include and go from there…. Which element leads best to the next? Do you want to have elements from one faith completed before moving onto the next faith?

Talk to the priest at your church. Mine seemed very willing to work with another pastor if my husband had one in mind. (Granted were both Christian). I hope you find a way to make it work for you. I bet it will be beautiful!

My cousin attempted the same but the logistics of this were impossible. They ended up doing two services. Both were tasteful, elegant and tremendously interesting for those of the opposite faith. There was no drama. They had a destination wedding in Portugal - approximately 1/2 way between India and Iowa. The venue was perfect and the wedding planner earned her money -- doing a fabulous job. Not sure this helps but wanted to provide you something.
