High Low Dress - Too Old??

Patti, on April 8, 2014 at 3:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Ladies - I really need your opinions here, please. I am getting married in September (2nd wedding, btw), and we are having our reception the day AFTER our wedding - anyway I'm looking at "reception dresses" online - is 43 "too old" to wear a high-low dress? I LOVELOVELOVE that style, but I'm just not sure if I'm over the age limit........and I'm sure the bridal shops will NOT tell me the truth, lol.

You have to go with YOUR style and how you feel in it. I think there are some very pretty hi-low dresses out there. To me, this might look less "junior" because it's a lower version.

It depends on the dress. Have some pictures of dresses you like?

Oh please. If you like it and it's flattering on your body shape, go for it. There's no such thing as "too young" -- it's all about the fit. There are plenty of young women/teenagers who wouldn't be flattered by a hi-lo hem, too. It's not about age it's about the way it looks on your body.

Lol, I was told by a bridal consultant that I was too old for a ballgown. I'm 29.

Thanks Ladies........I see a few on David's Bridal that I really like, but of course these are young 20-something models wearing them, so that's why I'm just not sure. I guess I'd have to try them on and go from there. Of course my 16 year old daughter says I'm "too old" - but I don't listen to her with this b/c she thinks I'm "too old" for EVERYTHING, lol

Bah-all the models look 20-something to me-- even the ones modeling the MOB dresses!

There are a couple hi-low dresses where the front hits below the knee-- I think these are very elegant and sophisticated-- definitely appropriate for any age.

The ones where the front shits above the knee seem a little bit clubby to me, but I'm not a fan of these in general, so I think this has less to do with them being age-appropriate, and more to do with my personal preference.

My mom is 43 also she got a high low dress for my sister's wedding. She only looks too old for it because it is absolutely covered in bedazzles otherwise it would be okay...well and she is too short so it looks kind of weird.Moral of the story as long as it isn't bedazzled then get it!Smiley smile
