High heels and outdoor (on the grass) ceremony!?

Aubrey, on March 20, 2017 at 12:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

Hi guys-

I'm having trouble figuring out what I should do about my shoes for the ceremony. We're getting married outside, on the grass. I want to wear heels under my dress- and I really don't want to wear wedges. Do those plastics heel protectors work? Anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks!

I don't have any personal experience, but I've heard tons of people say those plastic things don't work.

I had heard bad things about the heel protectors and decided to go with a wider heel.

On a related note, I highly recommend staying away from aisle runners for outdoor ceremonies especially with heels. Best wishes!

At DSW they sell this "things" that will make the hill wider. I used them at a wedding that I attended- grass/outside- and never got stuck!

I bought the ones that DB has. My heels will arrive sometimes this week or next, or so I'll test them out when they arrive. If they don't work, I'll probably return the shoes and go for a thicker heel.

Our ceremony will be in the grass as well. I loved some heels but opted for flats because of the issue your worried about. No one is going to see them anyways

I'm not wearing heels. I don't want to deal with getting stuck in the grown.

I say pick one.. outside ceremony or heels? I don't think it is really worth the stress over whether your shoes will sink or not. Go with sandals.

Sinking into the dirt (especially if it is damp) will ruin your heels. Yes, this is the voice of experience speaking.

I opted for wedges for our outdoor wedding. These are absolutely gorgeous, in my biased opinion!

@futuremrswelch let me know how they work. I'm an employee and get a discount so I would go with these

I'm planning on doing block heels so I don't sink, but there are also lots of cute wedge options. Shoes of Prey lets you design your own block heel or wedge (including picking the height) so I'm thinking of doing that.

I wore those plastic things to go over the heel when I was in my friends wedding and I thought they were fine! I didn't notice at all that I wasn't walking on my normal heel. In fact, I kept them on and I'm wearing them for my wedding, they have been on my shoe for every dress fitting and all.

The plastic things actually worked for me when I was a BM.
