Here comes the bride sign.....RESOLVED!

Julie, on October 7, 2013 at 6:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18

So here's the story, I was going to have 3 fower girls (had to really narrow it down too), and 2 were going to do the whole rose petals deal and one was to carry a "here comes the bride" sign.

Well, I have 2 little sisters (10 and 9, but they're small for their age) and they've always wanted to be flower girls but never got the chance. And I was only going to have one of them, the 9 year old, because I had to pick some of my FH's nieces. I kept feeling bad for my sister though even though she's the type to let things go. So I'm having 4 flower girls and have to redo the "here comes the bride" sign for 2 of them to carry.

The etsy ones are so expensive and I don't have much time to order one anyway, So my question is, what's the most elegant way to diy one? I really don't want a rustic looking one, and I feel like that might be all I'm capable of making.

Can you just get a piece of wood and paint it and then paint the words onto it maybe

Do you know someone artsy who could elegantly write that on a 'fancy' board, like from Michaels, that you could paint first?

Have you thought about having a print shop do a banner for you instead of you trying to do a wooden sign? It might be less expensive than the ones on etsy, and it may save you the headache of DIY if you're afraid it won't turn out well. Keep me posted, as I am also doing the banner/sign for FH's kids to carry.

What about a fabric banner? This place looks quick and reasonable in price.

I have not ordered from it myself, just found it online.

A banner sounds cute! And you could have you sisters each hold a side and walk down together. Smiley xd

Julie, I can totally help you with this! I actually JUST opened an Etsy shop selling banners and wedding decor, but I'd be happy to pay it forward and do this for you for free. I'll send you a request to connect in a moment.

EDIT: I really didn't want to link to my shop, but I can't load pictures from my computer for some reason. Here's an example of a banner I made for my own wedding. Let me know if you'd like me to make you one (on the house) and I'd be happy to help. This is not advertising! Smiley smile

I love Amanda's banner! (So sweet of you to offer Amanda!)

But is the aisle wide enough for 4 girls to walk down side by side?

What about having each one carry a sign similar to this that each has one word on it.

    Here

    Comes

    The

    Bride

    @HisMrs, thank you!

The way I read/understood it, two flower girls will throw the flower petals and two will hold the sign. I'm envisioning the flower petal throwers walking a few steps ahead of the sign holders. I do plan to make Julie's sign a teensy bit smaller than the one I made, to accommodate the extra characters and smaller hands holding it. Smiley smile

Amanda, how about you just tell me what materials you used and I'll try to make it. That way I won't create extra work for you and we won't have to worry about it getting to me in time. Kinda cutting it close here.

You could get a sign company to make it like Kinkos or something. That might be more econimical.

If you know someone with a Cricut machine, all you need is heavy duty cardstock and a cartridge with the font of your choice. But I don't think you could make one of the same quality without a Cricut - which typically goes for about $250. I could definitely get it to you by the end of next week at the latest, but go with whatever works for you!

I don't know of anyone with a Cricut machine and I'm pretty sure mine will not look as good as yours. So i'll let the pro handle it this time. I really really appreaciate it, i'll definitely recomend your etsy shop to others. Thank you so much.
