Ashley, on November 15, 2019 at 10:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hi everyone!

I just got engaged (yay!) and now it's time to start the wedding planning!

I am so lost! I don't even know where to start! We have a location and approximate date set so that's out of the way. So please HELP! Any advice/tips would be much appriciated!

Figure out your budget first, then a rough guest list. Does your ideal venue work for both of those things? You don't have a date until you have a contract with a venue, so I would do that ASAP. Once your venue is booked, you can start working on other major vendors like photography and catering. The checklist here on WW is very helpful.

    First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!
I am still in the planning process, but the whole thing has been so stress free for me so I’ll share what I’ve done
Find a venue that does a lot for you. Table cloths, dishes, catering, bartenders, day of coordinator, lodging etc is all included in the venue. It is totally worth the extra cost for the less stressGo dress shopping without the plan to commit. try on every style, fabric, shape. That way when you’re ready for the big appointment you’ll know what you do and don’t likeGet an idea of the theme from the beginning. That way you can start buying things as you goLet your bridal party know early. It can get expensive for them too. Then they can save. Find help from family and friends. A lot want to be involved. Whether it’s used wedding stuff, help setting up, or whatever.
I hope that helps! Good luck!!

Looks like your wedding is in July soo Yeah get a guest count(rough count) Find a venue and major vendors. Get your bridal party if you are going to have one and go dress shopping ASAP because dresses can take a good amount of months(6-9)to come in(i have been told). I am going in Jan because it will give me enough time for a dress to come in by the summer time.

Second, do not panic. You will need to look at venues asap as soon as you have a rough guest list together and a budget. We managed to lock things down seven months out, and I did the majority of our planning in about a month. Do go dress shopping asap as well - you don't know how long what you love will take to come in! I got lucky and fell in love with a dress that David's Bridal had in stock.
Also, PHOTOGRAPHER. We found that a bunch were booked already for our date, so make sure you start looking now. I also suggest finding a venue that has a day of coordinator - I believe she will be invaluable on the day - and includes the linens and tables and chairs as part of the package. If you're lucky, and we were, catering in house is also nice because you get to just pick from their menu and know it'll probably be good.
    And most of all, enjoy!

That timeline is true. I found my dress in May and it came in finally this month. Now I have 3 alterations appointments. Dont wait too long to go.
