My fiancé and I got engaged about a month ago. We decided on a date and from there I started to look at venues. Nothing met my expectations and the one that did had so many restrictions, it’s ridiculous. So my husband gave me an idea. How about we buy our first home before the end of the year and have our backyard wedding. I totally agreed since we do want a outdoor wedding. When I started telling some of my people their reactions weren’t the best. We got called “cheap” I felt bad at the moment but then I said to myself “we aren’t cheap, a home and a wedding in a year, wow!!! We are amazing”
Now, what should u do about those people? Should I brush off their comments or totally count them out of our wedding???

Backyard weddings aren’t cheap - often they cost more than a venue, by the time you’ve rented a tent, furniture, a bathroom trailer, dance floor, everything the caterers need (possibly including a generator):, cutlery/crockery/glassware, so anyone calling you cheap is way off beam. Ignore them and have the wedding you want!

Something that I have learn these days is that “friends” sometimes are jealous when you’re planning your wedding, my fiancé and I will buy a house soon too. Just do whatever you guys want m, that idea IS NOT CHEAP, houses are expensive, just enjoy this magical process and don’t worry about people. Good luck 💕

I think that idea is lovely. I was passing by some beautiful homes over the weekend and we saw this beautiful home and I said to my husband wow if we had a home like that we sure enough could of had our vow renewal or a wedding there. I feel its prefect. Whomever feels a way and doesn't support yall they may not shouldn't be included

I’m appalled that anyone would dare say that to you!
Backyard or DIY weddings often cost just as much/more and/or take more time and work to do! Honestly this person(s) doesn’t know what they’re talking about and are obviously rude lol
I would seriously considering marking them off your guest list if that’s how they feel. But if they’re family, etc. then that’s a toughie! You could also throw one awesome event/party and invite them just to show how amazing a backyard wedding really is

We have a few homes we have looked at that are beautiful with a beautiful backyard perfect for our wedding. Now we just got to make the decision. I also believe it’s an amazing idea, that way I get exactly what I’m envisioning

We have seen a few houses. Beautiful as can be with a huge backyard perfect for our wedding also one of the homes already has a pool. We just have to make our choice

They are the type that have married into wealthy families and had no budget so you can just imagine how extravagant it was and yes also very beautiful but that does not mean my wedding will be less beautiful. At this point I’m seriously considering cutting them off the guest list. Family or not lol 😂

Girl, backyard weddings are far from cheap so you are NOT cheap!!! We looked into doing one because my fiancé’s grandmother has a beautiful property perfect for a wedding but after adding everything up we decided a venue would be better for us. You do what you want!! Tell those people to screw off.
