Help!!

Kaitlyn, on April 9, 2022 at 1:44 AM Posted in Planning 1 4
My husband and I eloped on March 21st, but we plan on having our wedding ceremony and reception on June 17, 2023. I’ve never been to a wedding before (everyone is always shocked when I tell them.) I’m not really sure what to plan or where to start. I’ve looked at a couple venues and catering options but other than that I’m not sure what else there should be. We are unable to hire a wedding planner, so I need help!!

    Hey Kaitlyn!
First this first is to breathe! It's going to be ok. You have over a year to plan, you've got this!

Now,Set a budget, pick a theme, pick a venue (there's no reception without a place to have it lol)After that we did photographer/videographer, stationery, and now we're on caterer. You can go in whatever order is most important to you! Weddingwire & the knot have helpful checklists and timeliness based on your date that you can use (will be super helpful). I also have a Google sheet planning template I found that's super helpful to me!

    Congratulations!!!
The first two things you need to figure out are budget and guest list. The more guests you have the more expensive it is. Then look at venues, figure out what's important for you to have in the venue (nice view, all inclusive, diy, etc). Then in any order that works, caterer if not included with the venue. photographer, dj, wedding gown, invitations, bridal party if you want to have one and florist.I suggest creating an email address just for wedding stuff to give to every potential vendor you meet with this. This will keep everything organized in one place.
If there are any wedding expos in your area check them out. They can be a good source of inspiration and a way to speak with vendors in a more casual setting.
The most important thing is to relax and enjoy the process. It's your wedding do it exactly as you want and don't worry about others opinions.
