Help with the amount of Bridesmaids!

Lynzai, on December 30, 2019 at 8:36 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10
Right now I have 9 bridesmaids in mind! I know it’s a lot but I would love to have all of them by my side. Is it too many?

Only you can decide how many is too many. Keep in mind that 9 bridesmaids means 18 people minimum for the wedding and the rehearsal, 9 thank you gifts, etc.

Up to you. I have seen weddings with a lot of bridesmaids. That's a lot to coordinate.

It’s whatever feels right to you! I’ve seen many weddings with large bridal parties, I’ve also seen large bridal parties that will walk down for the ceremony and the party takes a seat in the front row and just the BM and MOH stand with the bride and groom, so that’s always a thought too if your worried about having too many in that aspect

It is totally up to you. My one friend had 10, but like the others have said you will have to deal with trying to coordinate that many people. We gave each person in our bridal party a thank you gift so that would be 9 girls you'd have to buy gifts for. We also bought getting ready attire for each girl plus the flower girls and mother of the bride. Had mother of the groom gotten ready with us I would have bought her a robe as well. All of my bridesmaids were also given a plus one for the rehearsal dinner so that is even more people you would need to invite to your rehearsal. I know I wanted all of my girls in the same dress so if you happen to want that as well that is more people you to decide on a dress for. Also, some brides choose to do a proposal gift when asking someone to be a bridesmaid so if you want to do that then that is another thing you would need to buy. Girls can also be a lot of drama.

I had 10 and it was fine! It wasn’t cheap though so keep that in mind.

I think it comes down to what you see for your big day. Keep in mind that the cost if that is a factor in your wedding. Gifts, flowers, thank you's, coordinating with them all. I have a hard time with my 5 because we are all busy. If you want them all then I say go for it!

Im only having 3-4 and i thought that was a small amount for a small wedding, so i guess it depends on the size. Like if you have 30-40 guests like me, then it would be weird to have 9 because then its like oh, half the guests are in the wedding.
Although, if you havent asked anyone yet, then its good you have those options. Things come up- people are weird. Not to mention, whos funding bridemaid dresses? You, or them?

How many guests are you expecting? A bridal party of 18+ people can be a little “odd” if there’s only 40 guests in the audience.

And then there’s also what people mentioned above: “more people.... more problems”. 😉

My sister had 9 BMs and 9 GM for her wedding with 180 guests. We will have 5 on each side for our wedding with 120. Agreeing with PPs, it really depends on the size of your guest list. For a tiny wedding, you will probably have a smaller venue and fitting that many people up there will be a challenge and look a bit weird. For a big wedding at a big venue, it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you consider how much space your venue will have up front!

    Short answer: Nope!
It depends on you and how much you can handle and take from people. The more people, the more opinions! My friend had 12 and I thought she was crazy lol but she loved them all and they loved her back so do what makes you happy! If those are your girls then roll with it!
