Help with processional songs!

Michelle, on May 4, 2017 at 9:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

I am having the worst time picking out a song to walk down the aisle to! I think I have it narrowed down to 4 (although this changes daily).

- Make You Feel My Love - Adele

- First Day of My Life - Bright Eyes

- Hold You In My Arms - Ray Lamontagne

- Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis

We will have a solo violinist, so I have been listening to string versions of these songs. I know the Adele song has a sad line or two in it, but it's just so pretty.. and could be interpreted differently? Maybe? Or maybe I just don't care about the lyrics.

The next two songs I LOVE the originals, but do they sound good when played on violin? I don't know because all I can hear is the original in my head.

Anyways.. thoughts, votes, etc. would be appreciated! 44 days out and stupid little decisions like these can somehow be crippling!

I walked down to Vitamin String Quartet "You Look Wonderful Tonight" I think that would translate to solo violin really nicely.

Can't really say what the 4 you indicated would sound like, maybe ask the violinist if they have any recommendations if you're really stuck.

I had the same struggle!! We decided on When I Fall in Love. We have a piano/cello duet but it sounds beautiful on violin too!

I would meet with the musician and have her play the songs for you. Then you decide. Because you're right, it may sound different.

I'm walking down the isle to Marry Me by Train. We have a singer who plays the guitar :-)

I personally love Can't help falling in Love (we're doing a cover either by Hailey or Ingrid). But I say pick the one that truly pulls at your heart strings. (Wording what you really feel.) I hope that makes sense/ helps.

This has been a struggle for me too! I was thinking of walking down to a violin cover of Ed sheeran "Perfect" but I don't love it as much as the original. FH enjoys canon D but I don't really love it.

BTW: I absolutely love "Can't Help Falling in Love" covered by Hailey Reinhart. the Ingrid cover is also nice too!
