Help with plan b date!

Aubrey, on May 11, 2020 at 6:07 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
Our venue is being really great and let us put a date on soft hold for next year. Our date is 9/5/20 and our soft hold backup date is 4/24/21. I just confirmed that we have the date help with the venue, and we have until mid July to make a decision on if we want to go ahead with the April 2021 date. Now I’m just not sure what to do. Do I message every single one of my vendors and ask if they have that date available? That seems like a lot of work & could get confusing if we end up keeping our original date. But I’d hate to wait and then lose that date availability. What should we do??

Our postpone date is now September 5, 2020 LOL so I hope everything is fine by then. When I rescheduled I emailed all of my vendors and asked them what day in September they had available. So I let the vendor availability dictate our new date, instead of trying to get them all on one day if that makes sense

Hi Aubrey! My original date is 9.19.2020 and I put a soft hold on 9.25.2021 just this weekend as a backup. And unfortunately yes, it was a lot of work but my coordinator and I called all the vendors to reserve the new soft date as a Plan B. If it’s just too much I’d recommend picking your most important non-negotiable vendors and ask them. For example my photography and venue were most important to me so I called them first.

We’re date twins! I am struggling to postpone our wedding... But, head knows I need to and heart won’t listen.
Between COVID-19 & now my left hips labrum is badly torn to require surgery and a 14-20 week recovery I know I should....
But then my dad has a pretty aggressive cancer and their not sure they can do chemo, my mom’s health isn’t great either.... So, I don’t want to postpone. I’m hoping that 9/19/20 can stay our date & Gabe the wedding of my dreams!

Hope all goes well for you!!!!!!!

When we decided to postpone I checked the dates available with our venue first and then checked with our vendors to see if they had any of the same dates. We found a few dates that our venue and vendors were all available and made the decision at that time. I do have to say (and brag on our vendors for a minute) that we were so lucky to have such an amazing vendor team. It also helped that our venue is basically all inclusive so I only had to reach out to our 3 outside vendors. Good luck!

    Hi Aubrey,

I'm sorry you're having to think about postponing your September wedding on top of planning your big day. eyFYBiGtFgC4Ag-LxBWWMP5UvJmt7cCKk6ZuRGas

I agree with the recommendations above. While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of September couples are waiting to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B!

You also aren't alone right now! ❤️I would start by chatting with your family. Will waiting until 2021 guarantee their presence? You can't control anyone's circumstances, of course, so maybe you could take an informal poll of the family and friends that you most want to see at your wedding. Their responses may help you decide your next step. In the end, you should make the decision that feels right for you.

Plus, there are many resources on our website to help you navigate the serious decision to postpone your wedding: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide.

    Hope this helps!
