Help with my ring

Rachael, on May 29, 2019 at 9:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
I’ve seen a few posts on here about people loosing diamonds from their ring, but nothing quite like what happened to me. My fiancé proposed a month and a half ago and so far, three tiny diamonds from the halo have fallen out. One popped out about three weeks after he proposed(three weeks ago). I noticed last night another one had fallen out. Then this morning I noticed a second one had fallen out. It’s been a different diamond each time. I take my ring off when I shower, work out, clean. I don’t take it off while I’m sleeping or during everyday activity. I’m just not sure what to do about it. They replaced the first one with no charge. They were very apologetic about it. They even tested to make sure the other diamonds were fine. But now in 24-48 hours two more have disappeared.

I would definitely take it back to the store it was purchased from. It seems like they didn’t set them tight enough if multiple have fallen out

Take it back again. Depending on where you got it, they might have a lifetime replacement policy (mine does). And even if they dont, 3 stones falling out in 6 weeks is simply unacceptable.

I plan on taking it back, but unfortunately I live in a different town from my fiancé at the moment. I won’t be able to go back for another week. The first time, he took the ring in and they fixed it. This time we both plan on going in and talking to them.

Yikes. I'd go back to the store and as sad as it would be, ask for a total replacement or full refund so you can go elsewhere. I would probably push for the latter. If they checked the prongs last time and said they were fine, obviously they were wrong and you may continue to have these issues. It just stinks because that's the ring your fiance proposed with.

I am so sorry that that has happened to you! That has to be so frustrating. I would make sure that the ring is insured, jic the store isn't super helpful. But I think Victoria is right - a total refund might be the best option at this point - you want to be able to enjoy wearing your ring without the worry of losing those diamonds.

If you get a full refund, see if perhaps you can purchase just the center diamond? Then you can get it set in a new ring that still keeps some of the sentimental feeling from your proposal.

OMG! your story had me checking my ring and one of mine had fallen out! I'm totally taking it back to get it replaced. It hasn't even been a year! Smiley cry

You gave this ring a second shot and it’s still faulty. I would go with a different brand or different jeweler all together. Also platinum tends to hold pave stones better than white gold but it’s more expensive!

Take it back and have them replace your diamonds. See if they will replace your ring for another one or refund your money.

I figured out how to post a picture! We took the ring to the jewelers today, they didn’t have extra diamonds to replace it today(makes sense, they’re black diamonds). My fiancé wasn’t aware and didn’t tell me that the type of setting and design he chose is pretty fragile, so I shouldn’t be wearing it while sleeping. We’re gonna give them one more chance since they don’t have the easiest return policy. If one more falls out during normal, everyday activities then I’m definitely going to try to exchange or return the ring, unfortunately.
