Help with low-cost Catering!

Allison, on October 24, 2017 at 9:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Does anyone have good ideas for low-cost catering? We've been looking into bbq, pasta, or even drop-off catering with no staff! I just can't decide if drop-off catering food would be difficult or not. We will have disposable dishes and will be doing all decorating ourselves so I don't need the caterer to do any of that. Does anyone have any other low-cost ideas?

Catering through grocery stores. Look at other people's reviews to check them out first.

If you do need serving help, look for a service organization that might do this to raise funds, like an honor society of teenagers, or a women's group at a church.

Just keep in mind that with drop off catering, you will still need someone to set it up and keep it at the proper temperature.

Drop off catering will be hard because there is no one to set up, clean up & direct the guests.

I would find an Italian restaurant or BBQ joint that caters and provides staff. It's so much nicer when someone disperses food, and cleans up afterwards.

This reminded me of the engagement party our parents had for us. There was no catering staff and I remember the debacle during cake and coffee time. Having to brew the coffee, cut and pass out the cake .. It was chaotic .. You don't want to have to do that on your wedding day. You'll be busy talking to guests and enjoying your self!!!

One thing i've heard is a DIY pasta bar. giant tubs of premade plan pasta, and then a few sauce options. could easily be done yourself if venue allows.

Pasta bar, tacos, bbq, brunch. All pretty cheap. We were lucky enough to find an awesome caterer in a small town near by and he's doing ours for $8.75 pp and $6.00 for kids buffet!!! He catered my friends wedding and its prob the best food I have ever had at a wedding. Salad, rolls, homemade butter, Lemon pepper chicken, beef tips in a red wine sauce, roasted red potatoes, green beans and he's including china for free. Look around and price out caterers in your area.
