Help with ideas

Deedee, on December 12, 2019 at 6:35 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
So I am having a Pirate themed wedding and the whole thing is kind of just relax, chill, and have fun. My fiance and I are having the ceremony at a state park at the ampitheater and the way it is set up there is no isle so to speak of. We decided we want to do something like a small skit at the beginning of the ceremony. We've come up with the idea that i will start out as a princess for the ceremony and ho rogue with full pirate gear for the reception. Here is where i need some help. At the beginning of the ceremony I am to be brought in with my hands tied and a burlap sack over my head to be taken off when i get to the alter. My delima is that i wanted my dad and girls (wedding party on brides side) involved somehow. Every idea i have had has been shot down by my fiance and it causes us to be at odds for a minute. His reasonings are, its too long, or it takes the focus off of me ( the fiance) . He doesn't give any ideas and doesn't really give much feedback other than shooting it down and getting mad that i was frustrated with him shooting it down. How can i keep with the theme and involve my crew without offending him or causing problems between us? Open to skit ideas too.

Have you thought about having the skit during reception? That way there is time to add things to it?

I am not a fan of themes, but if you want to do a pirate themed wedding then I would consider more subtle ways of doing it. A skit where it looks like you are being forced to marry your fiance seems like it could end very badly. Guests will probably be very confused and likely think you don't actually want to get married because of your hands being tied and a sack over your head. If you really want to do a skit, I would do it during the reception rather than a ceremony. A ceremony is supposed to be a special moment between spouses not a game. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but as a guest this skit would ruin your whole ceremony for me.

Can the bridesmaids and father each have a choreographed swordfight for you at the alter? That could be done quickly and get people clapping and cheering.

Here I am! I shall friend request you in a minute. Welcome and I’m excited to hear your ideas and support your theme!!!

My hubby & I ran into some issues with wanting a pirate theme but not making a mockery of the ceremony/marriage. Both of you would really need to feel the skit in order to do a very non-traditional ceremony. We decided to have a non-denominational ceremony in traditional wedding attire with hints of pirate, then surprise guests with a full-out pirate reception in a wine cave. During cocktail hour we slipped out to change into pirate attire. Our welcome speech was a bit of a skit. We gave a speech in French/English (we had a few French guests) about how we ransacked a ship and were ready to share the bounty with our friends and drink. Our speech was interrupted by Captain Jack Sparrow then the accordionist broke into sea shanties and everyone danced. (Our decor was inspired by the Disney ride and first movie. I’ll share some pics when I get a chance.).
Can you take your skit ideas and bring those to the reception? How would your fiancé feel about that?

We are having the ceremony at a state park at the outdoor amphitheater at our local coastal town. The reception is where i go full pirate gear and that is at a restaurant in the same town on the bay front. This is all happening on April 20, 2020. Any ideas you can throw my way i am willing to examine and twist it fit to my style.
