Help with Bustle

Kimberly, on June 28, 2020 at 4:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Hello ladies, I need help with my bustle. The seamstress is saying a double wrist bustle for my train but I really don't want anything hanging from my wrist. Especially because the material is not light. My concern is, if I go with anything else the already wide skirt will look huge in the back and uneven all around.. Any suggestions?

Your skirt is much fuller than mine, but here is what mine looked like if it helps. It had seven points. I agree a wrist bustle would not be good because the material is heavy. My moh’s wrist strap broke at her wedding and she had to hold her dress for hours. Help with Bustle 3

Beautiful dress, it looks great on you! I agree a wrist bustle doesn’t look like it would be a good idea. My favorite bustle is the waterfall style, here’s an example:
With a big skirt and train there’s not really a way around adding some bulk with a bustle, but something like this, creating layers mimics the shape of the skirt.

Here's my bustle! The train is sheer, but it's the waterfall/American tuck. Maybe she could manage a few buttons so you could get it out of the way? Or make it detachable?

I didn’t pick a dress that it would work for of course, but I still love the way it looks.

I know some bulk is unaffordable and I am okay with that i just don't want TOO much. Thank you for the ideas. I will talk to the seamstress and see what she can do.

I can see why it's unbeatable! The detail on the dress looks awesome! I agree with the previous suggestion that maybe the waterfall style bustle would work? Good luck, I'm sure it will turn out well no matter what you decide to do!

I would inquire about a French bustle (also called an under bustle) - mine lay flat and because it sits a little lower the bulk isn't as obvious. I tried to find a picture of mine because I had a ballgown with a fairly long train, but I don't have a photo that focused on the bustle (not that I would want to have a picture with the bustle in focus lol).
