help with Bridal Hair

Kristin, on September 6, 2020 at 7:32 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 20
Hey ladies, our wedding is in 18 days and I’m still on the fence on how to wear my hair. I’m attaching pics of my dress and my hair for reference. Normally, I wear my hair down and curled, but am worried about doing a full down style due to the heat and humidity. Our ceremony is outside at 5:30 PM (will probably only be 20 minutes long) and the reception is inside. FH and I will be taking photos during cocktail hour. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? I wore half up for my trial and did not like how flat hair sat on my head. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or pics you can provide for inspo.help with Bridal Hair 1

I would prefer it to be up only because the back of the dress is so pretty so I wouldn’t want it to be covered by your hair! it also brings more attention to your face and the dress if you have your hair up

If you pop over to my profile i just did a hair and make up trial today and I am thinking to go with the updo because I loved it best and made me feel very bridal esp with the veil. My HMUA had a rule of better to have two looks you love and you can choose the day of. Factoring in heat and humidity maybe updo is best.

I had basically the same wedding day scenario as you, so I wore my hair up with a braid on either side of my head going into a bun. You could always do an elegant braid down your back too. That way it won’t get hot while outside or dancing and stick to your back, but also won’t block the dress details. help with Bridal Hair 4

Your hair is gorgeous but I think having it up will show off the back of your dress more.

I had my hair trial today. Originally I wanted a half up and half down look. My stylist tried a couple of different looks based on my dress, veil, and humidity.
I ended up liking the updo. It made feel more bridal. Plus she said it won’t be sticking to my skin throughout the day. help with Bridal Hair 5

What about doing a low bun or low side bun, simple but elegant. Especially if your worried about the humidity it will help to keep your hair off your neck and keep you cool during the ceremony

Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions! I’m not sure if I can edit the original post, but forgot to mention that I went back for a second hair trial to try an updo style.

Surprisingly, I didn’t feel super self-conscious having my hair pulled back away from my face, but the having my hair in an updo gave me a bad headache and neck pain. It wasn’t due to my hair being pulled back too tight, but I think from the weight of my hair being pinned on my head. It wasn’t too low, but wasn’t too high, so I’m wondering if moving the hair up higher (towards the crown) would provide more neck relief? I feel my hair wouldn’t do well close to my neck (it will rub against the back of my neck and get frizzy). Thanks again to all of you beautiful ladies!

Great idea! I completely forgot to mention I went back for a second hair trial and tried an updo. I posted a new comment with a photo of the trial hair. It stayed really well, but gave me a headache and neck pain 😩

Thank you for your advice, I agree with you and feel that wearing it down may take away from my dress. Has anyone seen or know of a bride who’s done the vintage Hollywood curls AND had it last throughout the night?

Lol the magic of extensions and a great artist. I think any of those styles would look great on you. Maybe an updo but with curls? Have you checked Pinterest?

I just have to say that your hair is absolutely gorgeous!

The updo looks beautiful, but as someone with long, heavy hair, I understand the head/neck pain concern. I'd ask your stylist if positioning it a little higher would help.

I'd love to do a full updo myself, but I know I'm going to be way too self-conscious since I always wear my hair down. So glad you're comfortable with it because it looks stunning!

Thank you so much! I am more comfortable with it down too, so I feel you there. I will take your advice and see if positioning the hair higher may help. I can even play around with it at home and see, thanks!
