Help! White ribbon on my bouquet,my dress is candlelight/ivory!!

Denee aka Now a Mrs, on August 5, 2010 at 9:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

We went with silk flowers to cut back and they are beautiful! My problem is that I fell in love with a dress that is a light ivory.

I had my flowers custom done and they have light purple (one of my colors) and white ribbon cascading.

Will the white ribbon make my dress look tacky?

I don't see why it would, but is there any way to replace the ribbon, maybe ask the maker to add the ribbon that matches your dress?

You could always get a lavender ribbon and replace the white one.

I feared the same thing so my ribbon will be royal blue. But all my flowers are ivory so the blue will make them pop I think. Go with a purple or lavender ribbon if not white/ivory.

I think it will be fine. It's ok to have the ribbon pop a little as it accompanies the flowers. The dress is to pretty to be effected by the ribbon they are seperate. If you are really worried about it you could replace with ivory or cut the ribbon all together.

    Thank you for the comments!

My dress is in a area where the light isn't very good right now,but I held the bouquet up to the dress and it seems like it will be okay...

I'll try the two together when I go for my fitting and if it doesn't look right I'll worry about it then.Like I said my dress is a VERY pale ivory, like a cross between white and ivory.

    Thank you again!

Thank you.I bought it from my local boutique and I had to search online to find pictures that would allow copying.

It makes me feel like a princess that's for sure!

Lol,yeah we are on a budget and I found a girl on ebay who is amazing and it saved us a lot!

They are silk flowers too so they will last...Well,at least until one of our kids tear them apart, lol.

If you can't replace the white ribbon easily you should be able to add a sheer ivory which would solve the problem. Michael's has very nice sheer ribbon. If you are not comfortable DIY maybe the flower person at Michael's would do it for you.

    Beautiful bouquet by the way.

I think it will be fine! But if you want, mayeb you could add some ivory (thinner?) ribbon to tie it in? Your dress is very pretty!

Sorry, but I have one more idea. Can you cut the ribbon out? I suggest that in case you change your mind. That might be easier than trying to replace the ribbon yourself. I also feel like the bouquet is so beautiful on its own that the ribbon kind of distracts from it. Anyway, just my thoughts. (:

I agree with Judyinaz. It may be easier to take the ribbon out. Your bouquet is gorgeous.

The flowers are beautiful. I'd consider getting rid of the ribbon all together!

Great gown, I love it. but no you can't put white against ivory, it won't look right in the photos. just change out the ribbon, how hard can that be?
