I started dress shopping in mid June. Since I knew I wouldn’t have time to order a dress, I had to go with an off the rack option. I was at my highest weight at the time and was getting discouraged trying on dresses and felt like they all just highlighted where I had gained weight. I finally found a dress at a bridal consignment shop and got a great deal on it. I liked it well enough, and felt like it kinda glided over my stomach instead of clinging to it. I also liked that it is chiffon and it would be pretty light weight which is a plus since it will be very hot in Las Vegas. I ended up buying it and took it that day to my local seamstress.
I decided that day to try and lose some weight before the wedding so I could feel more confident on my big day. I also kept looking at the pictures of the chiffon dress and started to second guess my choice. I didn’t like how bright of a white it was, I didn’t like how the belt was to one side and I felt like from the side view I had no shape in it and kind if just felt like a blob. I decided to just focus on eating healthier and waiting until the alterations were done to see how I felt then.
Fast forward to now, I have lost 15 pounds. I decided to try and find a backup dress just in case I didn’t like how the chiffon dress looked on me. I found a beautiful lace dress from lulus that was only $100. I decided to order it to try on and worse case I could easily return it if I didn’t like it. Well the dress came in and I loved it. Of course it needed hemmed because I am all of 5”1. I took it to my local seamstress who was able to hem it and also did another fitting of my original dress since I had lost some weight.
She was able to bring the chiffon dress in a bit more and also hemmed my lace dress in just a couple days. I picked them both up on Saturday and I’m not sure which one I should wear. I am really loving the lace dress but I was thinking maybe for the ceremony to wear the chiffon dress and when we do photos on the strip that night I could wear the lace dress.
Please help me decide which one I should wear?! I was also thinking of maybe getting a thin belt for the lace dress to hide the seam and also to make my waist look a little smaller. I am personally leaning towards the lace dress because I think that would look best in a garden setting and it is so easy to walk in. I know it will all come together once I have my veil and my hair and makeup done but I am panicking! Any ideas or thoughts would be great! Sorry this is so long and all over the place!
Also for the pictures - the chiffon dress has two additional hook and eye closures that I can’t fasten myself so it will be a bit more form fitting around my waist and bust. In the picture of the lace dress I am wearing heels that are about an inch taller than my wedding shoes so you won’t see my shoes at all with the dress when I have those on. Thanks again!
