Help! Where to get custom replica dress?

Maria, on July 8, 2020 at 11:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Hi Ladies,

My husband and I got married on August 5, 2019. We had a destination wedding and it was perfect. We were planning on getting married in a church on our 1 year anni, but now that's not happening b.c of COVID. We're going to do it on our 2 year anni instead. I was going to re-wear my wedding gown that day but now I'm thinking it would be a lot of fun to get a new, MUCH CHEAPER gown. I know the dress that I would like to wear. Does anyone know of any good websites who can create replica gowns? Thanks so much!

Why don’t you just buy the dress that you want to wear? No reputable company is going to replicate (AKA steal) someone else’s design.

I believe the seamstress doing the alterations on my dress also makes custom gowns - maybe check with a seamstress in your area to see if this is something they can do?

Also, I do agree with the previous comment - they might not exactly replicate the design, though maybe they can use the dress you like as inspiration to create a unique dress for you?

    Because it's $4,000.

Yeah, I remember about 2 years ago when I first got engaged I was looking up websites for people who make replica wedding gowns. I found 1 or 2 that did an amazing job with a lot of reviews and videos from actual customers. I just can't seem to find them again. I think people paid around 400$ for the dresses. I don't know if a seamstress here would do it for that price. (The people that I found were making the gowns in China)

You ever see those online shopping fails? That's usually what you get from those sites. The reviews are almost always all fake. Azazie has some really pretty dresses in that price range, and they are a reputable company.

Anomalie does custom wedding gowns, but I’m not sure how affordable they are. They also won’t replicate (steal) someone else’s design, but they will use your inspiration pictures to create something unique for you.

Then I would find a different dress that’s more in your price range. I like PP’s Azazie suggestion! Designer gowns are expensive for a reason, it’s unethical to steal a design that someone put their time and energy into.

Oh, I see! Wow, $400 is a good price! I unfortunately am not knowledgeable on those types of companies. A seamstress may do it for less than $4000, but I'm not sure what they'd charge. In any case, best of luck!

I had my dress made from Lunss and getting it tweaked at my tailor. She said it was of great quality. They can help you design your dress and you can tweak it through the process. Very good on communication. You can look them up on YouTube. There’s a girl that got a replica designer dress made for $1000.
Given that our original wedding was in May, I ordered a stock design. If I had known we had to move another 5 months later, I would have designed a custom dress instead. Oh well!

Have you ever checked on stillwhite to find the dress you’re talking about? Depending on your price range, you can also find a dress that has the same silhouette and then take that to the seamstress. They will more than likely be able to source all of the same lace and/or beading etc. It definitely won’t be cheap, but it also definitely won’t cost you 4 or 5 grand. If you go to a good seamstress they’ll be able to get it pretty close to what you want.

Not sure of your budget. But I was initially looking into having a dress made and was researching this company https://www.dariuscordell.com/ Then I ended up finding a dress in a salon. However please get a designer inspired dress made if you desire. No one replying on this post is going to wear the dress or pay for it besides you. So, do as you please. Best wishes! 😉

If you want a replicate of your old dress, can you not just wear that one? Asking for a replicate is not a good idea. It is ripping off of the designer and is basically stealing. I would go with some of the other ideas of maybe getting a custom dress similar to your previous one.

I still have my old dress. I want a replicate of a completely different dress. Doesn't have to be exactly the same but something very similar.
