Help!! Wedding day timeline

ileana, on June 5, 2018 at 7:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Can anyone share their timelines for a wedding where the ceremony starts at 4pm and ends at 9pm? Unfortunately, we don't have the money to afford a DOC or planner, so I will give my timeline to our DJ and with my bridesmaid they will make it run smoothly.

Details needed:

We are allowed on site for decorating 2pm

Door is unlocked for guests to enter 4pm

Invitation start time 4:15p ( really want to start on time)

we are not doing first look pics, we are taking pictures at a historical train station down the street.

we will have appetizers and drinks flowing while we are gone

bridal party we not be making a grand entrance, only bride and groom

only 50 guests

my rough timeline (thoughts?)

4pm doors open

4:15pm ceremony starts

4:35pm ceremony ends

4:40pm both families and bridal party go outside to get on private shuttle to train station

4:45 pm cocktail hour begins- apps passed on trays, violin music, bar open

5:05pm bridal party and families rejoin guests

5:35pm Grand Entrance/ First Dance

5:38pm Welcome Speech

5:40pm Buffet opens

5:55pm Everyone has food

6:10pm Toasts just 2- kept short and sweet

6:15pm Father Daughter Dance( very special to me my brothers helped raise me and I will dance with all 3 during one song)

6:18pm Mother Daughter Dance

6:20pm Mother Son Dance

6:45pm Cake Cutting

6:50pm Party until 9pm

8:55pm Newlywed Send off

Please no harsh comments, I need guidance not criticism.

The only thing that sticks out to me is the time you’ll be gone for pictures. Are you doing all of your pictures after the ceremony or just ones with family and FH and doing some before ceremony without FH? Also, if you’re taking a shuttle to and from the picture taking location, I don’t think that 25 minutes is enough time to take the shuttle there, get off, take various pictures and then get back.

Agreed! With no first look you will need an hour for all the photos. We are doing about 3 hours of photos all beforehand because I want pics!

I agree with the other PPs about the time for photos. They will take longer than you expect. Our photographer spent about 2 hours before the ceremony taking pictures of the details, wedding party, family and a first look. We then spent about 30-45 minutes after the ceremony taking more pictures.

Yes we are taking ones with just our own families before the ceremony, also our photographer is very quick and sticks to a time frame. She already has a list with the exact shots we want with names. We are getting the family pictures and bridal party pictures out of the way first, so they can rejoin the party and get some food in them. After they leave, my FH and I will be with here another 30 minutes. We have spent a lot of time with our photographer and after engagement shoot we made a list of the exact poses we want.

Also the train station is literally down the street but we didn't want everyone to have to walk in there wedding attire, my poor bridesmaids!

Your timeline sounds fine to me. I would leave a bit more of a buffer for yourself for travel time but it sounds about right
