HELP! Tent rentals that allow to cancel if no rain

Ally, on January 15, 2017 at 1:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Looking for tent rental companies in Northern California (mainly sacramento but surrounding is fine) that allow me to cancel about a week in advance or so if there's no rain in the forecast. My ceremony and reception are completely outside. Our date is the end of May but Northern California weather can be so bipolar. I'm ok with losing half my money just not all of it.

Tents are a good idea even if no rain. Sunburnt guests will not be happy guests.

So what happens when rain isn't forecasted but it rains anyway and you've cancelled your tent?

I had my wedding and reception outside and yes, you need the tent either way. It's not losing money. It's allowing for shade, temperature control with the siding and not only do people need it, but so does the cake and food. In addition, siding on a tent (which you really do need) prevents bugs from getting in the food, drinks, biting people. etc. The light and noise attract hoards of them.

Is the weather really that bipolar in Sac? I live in Marin and by May it's usually all good (especially since the drought) and we're on the Bay... Sac is so much hotter than Marin. Or am I just insane (quite possible)?

I am doing an outdoor ceremony and reception in the mountains of Southern California in June and with the drought I think its easily been ten years since it rained there at that time of year. I have two types of tents on rental just in case, plus the rental company put it in my contract that I could cancel up to 72 hours and apply that portion of my down payment towards the overall bill or additional items. If there is no rain in forecast I am cancelling the big tent and going with the two smaller tents for shade. And if it magically ends up raining we will go inside my in laws house (backup plan C) and a benefit of a small guest list.
