  I would put him in the same color as the best man! Maybe he could wear a different color tie or different boutonnière

  My dress is ivory, and my FH is wearing a medium gray suit with an ivory tie and pocket square. The GM are wearing the same suit, but with ties to match the bridesmaids.

  What color is the rest of his suit? Do you have examples of the two shirts, are they very different colors? Will the groom and groomsmen otherwise be wearing the same?
