Help! Questions to Ask Photographers

Amanda, on January 7, 2020 at 11:07 PM Posted in Planning 3 5

We are meeting with a photographer this Sunday and we love her pictures! What are some good questions/things to know when meeting with her? Are there things you wish you would have asked?

All of my bridesmaids are single and I have no one with experience to ask. Thank you ladies!

-will you need us to provide you with a meal at the reception?
-do you edit your photos? All of them (If not, how many)?
-what if there are specific shots we want... how and when do we provide you with that information?-what happens if you (the photographer) gets sick or has an emergency and ends up not being able to make it?-what form of media will we receive the photos in? (Flash drive, Dropbox, etc)-do we have the full rights to the photos?-when is the first deposit due? When is the final payment due?-do you charge a travel fee?-when can we expect our photos back (and make sure to get this in writing! So many brides on here have had problems with their photographers not getting photos back in time, so just save yourself that trouble by making sure this one is in the contract or at least in writing in an email or something)? Will there be a sneak peek or preview before then (and if so, when can we expect that)?

Oh! And also, how many photos do you guarantee we’ll receive? (My photographer guaranteed at least 100 photos per hour that they are there... said it’s usually WAY more—they sent us literally 3,000 hahaha—but it’s always good to have them commit to a minimum!)

Make sure you see a full album of a wedding, not just the highlights they choose to show. You'll want to get a feel for the majority of their photos, not just the few good ones that are often portrayed on social media/websites.

Make sure you know the full package and what it includes.

Can you get pictures without the watermarks.

Do you have a travel fee to my venue.

Do you help establish a timeline.

How does a wedding day typically go - usually they do a breakdown of when they arrive, when is best for them to take certain pictures - it will also lead into ( or should) things that you may want. Detail pictures, first look or aisle first, sunset, ect.

Will you post a first look

How long does it usually take to get pictures back.

What happens if you have a family emergency.
