Help!!!! Questions about dress storage

Happily Married, on June 28, 2021 at 10:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I have my wedding dress in a dark walk in closet, as recommended by my boutique but I also store my vacuum cleaner in the closet so I do open it twice a day. Once to grab the vacuum and once to put it back. Yesterday I must not have closed the door all the way, and left it open a tiny crack. I noticed it was open when I got back from the grocery store, and closed I immediately. Yesterday was hot as balls, but I can’t tell you how much light seeped through the crack or sunny it was in that part of the house because I wasn’t home.

Would a few hours of a little light (if any) seeping through a cracked open door ruin my dress?
Thank you!

Is your dress in a garment bag? How are you storing it? Direct sunlight isn't good for if some sunlight happened to get to it its not a problem.

It’s in the garment bag provided by the boutique, and it’s in a dark walk in closet so it’s not in direct sunlight but I left the door open a tiny crack yesterday without realizing it was a little open.

It'll be fine as long as it isn't in direct sunlight for long periods of time.

    Your dress is FINE.

It shouldn't sit out in direct sun for hours at a time day after day but no fabric is so fragile that it cannot get exposed to a sliver of light. Your dress is not a vampire!

While you're wearing your dress its going to be exposed to some kind of light for a few hours, so def a sliver of light isn't going to ruin it. like Kari said, it isn't a vampire

Your dress is fine. I got married 2 years ago and my dress is now in a closet with a window and it’s still fine. Although I am worried about how long it will be fine, lol. A few hours with a cracked door will be ok. Although I understand how it could stress you. I would have been the same.

Not even a little cause for concern. A little sun won’t hurt it. Prolonged (like months) periods of direct sunlight could have an impact eventually but a little light exposure from time to time is absolutely no issue at all
