Help picking fabric for my bridesmaid dresses!

TS, on December 6, 2021 at 4:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hi all! My wedding is next October and I am currently trying to narrow down the bridesmaid dress options for my girls. I have a few colors that I really like, however I can't decide about what kind of fabric their dresses should have. My plan is to have everyone in the same color/fabric and let them chose the specific style they want.

My dresses is an a-line with a tulle bottom, so I definitely don't want the bridesmaids in tulle. Another popular option seems to be chiffon, however in photos it looks very similar to tulle.

Brides who also had a tulle dress, what kind of fabric did you put your bridesmaids in? Thank you for the help!

What about satin or velvet? They could look nice?

here are some pics of various options with tulle-y wedding dresses:

I had sample swatches of what the girls prefer (chiffon or tulle). Based on the way it looked the girls wanted to go with tulle. It actually went with my dress because I had tulle in my dress Smiley smile

I got married last month and it was fall, but I still wanted to do a dusty blue color because that is what I had my heart set on. So, if you don't already have a color theme for your wedding then you can use fall colors since you are getting married in October. Velvet is a good fall option for the type of fabric. But if you don't like that then you can definitely do tulle if that's what you want. Smiley smile Again, it's what I did!

I am also thinking of doing a dusty blue color! I'm thinking maybe velvet or satin if I can find those in that color!

I did a mix of fabrics! Satin with a lace overlay, satin, and a “pseudo-sati” (?). I loved the look of mixed fabrics, it still worked because the color palate was so cohesive and I only had the 3 Smiley smile

My girls all had satin dresses in the color's wine and juniper from DB and the fabric wore and photographed beautifully. I just told them to pick any floor length dress in these colors in the satin material and they were all able to get what fit their body types and budget well.
