Okay folks, help me turn this frustrating situation around! Okay folks, help me turn this frustrating situation around! Here are the details.
- Our date is 09/17/22
- Paying for the wedding ourselves - Guest list can be small and intimate or up to 150-175, either way we’ll survive - Colors are forest green, sage, ivory, gold with splashes of a bold rustic blue (I added a photo of the color palette I using)- Outdoor ceremony and indoor reception - DIY is our goal to help budget - Love a rustic feel and decor
I need your help with ideas or suggestions on how I can find/save my wedding. All of the venues we adored became booked up once we save a bit of money so now everything feels hopeless.
We entertained the idea of eloping or a courthouse wedding but just can’t get the image we have dreamt about of a traditional wedding. cfb_1501012.jpg

I love the forest and botanical gardens idea!! Every place we toured either had Fridays or Sunday’s open. It’s time to think outside of the box for venue ideas. Every place I’ve looked at was a traditional or conventional wedding place/business.

I looked at a couple of parks when we were gathering ideas but when I looked at the prices, I didn’t like it as much anymore 😅 maybe if we break up the locations of the ceremony and reception the prices would be nicer on our wallets!!

    I’ll check out those websites!!

Private rooms in a restaurant? No actually! That’s not a bad idea! I’ve looked at hotel ballrooms but my coworker told me that I should avoid hotels because they canceled her wedding for a different event a month before…

So a restaurant might be the solution to a hotel ballroom idea!

Community buildings and club houses are good suggestions!! I tried golf courses but all Saturdays are booked till 2024.

I keep coming back to the idea of us grabbing our siblings and their partners and eloping somewhere. Then either in 2023 or 2024 we can have a bigger (no guest list limitations) and extravagant wedding (think My Big Fat Green Wedding or Mamma Mia big and extravagant weddings).
Are you doing a destination elopement? Afterwards you can honeymoon there or hop a puddle-jumper or train to explore!!

Awww I love that you found a perfect solution!!! So we met on 07-05-18, started dating on 07-17-18, and got engaged on 07-17-21. I am not a fan of a July wedding due to the heat and I sweat!!! Yuck! Honestly we could do the 5th, 7th or 17th would work.

Oh idea!! We should aim for the 5th so then all four of our firsts can have a pattern!

Oh snap!! I like this!! I can nag and keep calling!!! (Within limits lol no need to unleash crazy just yet!) Think there’d be a discount if it’s super last minute?? Also what do you think is considered super last minute in terms of cancellations?

Yeah I’m looking at those now, I really just want the ceremony outside and the reception inside. Any ideas for a reception venue??

I think you’re absolutely right about saving more if we wait!! You know the feeling of when you have the wedding glitters and you don’t feel like you can wait any longer? But will as long as he’s standing there at the alter smiling and teary eyed as you are walking down the isle!

That’s what I want, and I’m not quite ready to postpone that idea any longer! If we do have to then I have a plan!! Eloping in 2022 and having a ceremony and reception in 2023 or 2024.

I agree you should find a venue first, then pick the date based on the venue's availability. With all the covid postponements, the next year or so will be very impacted by weddings.

I would try another town or area then! A little traveling will solve the issue I think. Possibly even another state.

Thank you! Smiley smile I’m not sure how long you want to wait to get married or what the weather is like in November where you live, but November 5, 2022 could be a good date for you! I think that would be super cute since you met on the 5th!

They aren’t available. It seems like a lot of officiants have full time jobs and do officiating on the weekends. Florist are booked because of Covid weddings being moved and cakes are similar, along with I have celiac and need a gluten free or partially gluten free cake. So I already have limited options

Keep nagging, it's a business and they need your $$$ 😹
I'm not sure if you'd get a discount since your venues sound very coveted, but it's an option to broach when you call and they haven an opening for you to book!

My fear with another state is that we won’t have control over the planning or hands on decisions. I am very much a planner and boarder line control freak when it comes to events.

We have looked into other cities nearby as an option. One detail that’s important to us is that we do what we can to prevent drinking and driving. Our goal is to have the reception venue close to a hotel or hire a shuttle to bus people to and from.
By having it in a different city that would help remove the option of driving back to Boise for the night and entice the guest to book a room or make accommodations on there own nearby.

Oh girl I feel you on that. My allergy list (celiac included) is ridiculous!!! It’s actually how I was able to get an exception on some preferred vendors.

Have you thought about maybe doing a Sunday wedding over a holiday weekend? If you can find a Monday that falls on a holiday (Indigenous People's Day, Labor Day, etc), your guests that are traveling could likely stay the night and not have to take off a day from work for travel depending on their jobs/paid holidays!

What do you mean by exception? We went to the restaurant at my venue and had dinner. They can make everything GF which is amazing. We are working with the chef, who also has celiac, to convert our dinner to GF. Only thing I’m having an issue with is cake. Are you having a GF cake for everyone? My fiancé suggested we have a small GF cake and then a regular cake separately for everyone else cause of cost.

We were running into the same thing with dates being booked up, and moved the day... It was going to be 10/01, but moved to 10/09, worked out that we were able to get the cheaper Sunday rate ($500 cheaper), and can still have an evening wedding that day because the following day is a federal holiday (Columbus Day). If you can move the date, maybe see if there's a Sunday with a holiday the day after, or a weekday with a holiday the day after?
