Help me: hair up or down?

Monica, on January 11, 2020 at 11:44 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
Okay guys so first of all im sad because I did a ton of research and found someone at a great price $90 for me and my daughter. But then we ran into a problem . . The earliest we can start is 9am because the salon opens at 9 but my makeup is at 11. So I explained my timeline a little to the stylist and asked her if she thinks it will take more than 2hours for my hair & I havent heard back from her since then. Maybe she feels some kind of way because shes giving great price and now it seems like Im going to rush her.

Lets say my hair takes 3 hours instead, then I would have to push back my ceremony by an hour which im not interested in doing. Not only that but it would make the day super rushed. My sister recommends finding someone that will come to my house which is more expensive because of her travel fee $145 but you know what im about to say whatever just pay it for the convenience.

Now for the hairstyles its either Updo or vintage wave Hollywood curls. I always imagined having an updo but im considering my hair down to cover my shoulders/arms and I lovee the look of the curls. I have naturally curly hair I wear my hair in buns a lot lol and buns that look similar to the updo but way less fancy of course so i like it but its kind of whatever at the same time. I neverr curl my hair with a curling iron so that would make me feel a little extra fancy. No matter what hairstylist I go to they all want me to straighten my hair beforehand, my hair is thin and fine when its straightened and the problem is my hair doesn’t hold curls well. I might add extensions but then maybe I would have the extensions nice & curled all night but my natural hair would fall out.

So I should probably be realistic and put my hair up right? Heres a few pictures of my inspiration. And then I added pictures with indian veils because thats how I will be wearing my veil. Hair up or down? Help me: hair up or down? 1Help me: hair up or down? 2

My daughter had a pretty complicated updo, involving curls, multiple sections, working in a hairpiece and building her hairdo around it, etc., and her professional HMUA was done with BOTH her hair and make-up in under two hours. Most HMUA will have you arrive with clean, dry hair, so it's just a matter of styling dry hair. If you do a trial, you should both be very familiar with what she'll be doing and how long it will take. Also, some salons will open early for a client and/or you might be able to have the stylist come to you at another location.

For sure my makeup artist will take an hour (2 separate ppl) but I could imagine my hair being 2hrs or less. Thank you for the perspective for your daughters hair. Its just that the hair stylist isnt reassuring me with timing, she asked which style did I want, up or down. I told her mostly likely updo but which takes longer? Im going to give her another day to respond before I reach out a second time.

Your hair decision should be made based on the weather if you're getting married outdoors or plan to be outdoors. Down looks with curls are nice. In regards to your first issue I honestly would splurge on hair and make up. I hate the prices too but I am going to. Does your make up artist know a person that will travel and work w her?

The wedding is indoors in April. I live in Cali our winter/spring have been weird some years its nice and sunny no rain, last year rain came late & rained for weeks between March -May

My makeup artist is in the same city as me. She also does hair also but her price is outrageous for hair ($200) im already splurging with her for makeup ($250). I definitely dont mind paying extra money for my convenience, There is someone that will travel and do me & my daughters hair for $145 all together so I will probably book with her to save me the stress.

I wouold say if you have not put money down and can find someone else to do both then I would. Honestly on average here in Tampa Bay for hair and make up is about $175+ so it is expensive regardless lol.

If you’re concerned about time, the updo will definitely take longer! If you’re torn between the two styles then maybe let that be the deciding factor lol because I’m confident she could do it down in that style in under 2 hours
