Help! Is my dress too plain?

Kandace, on October 23, 2017 at 4:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I'm worried my dress is too plain. I have the veil but I feel like it's too plain from the waist down. What do you think?

It looks like you got this at davids, did they not offer you a belt option?

I would try a belt on as well. My Davids consultant grabbed belts to try on with each dress.

Yes, but my stylist told me he wouldn't do a belt that it would clash with the top of my dress.

No its not too plain. I'm not a fan of belts personally.

    Simple is refreshing actually.

Do YOU feel the dress is plain? I like it, but you have to like it. if you want more bling ask to see belt options when you go in for a fitting, or make a special appt just to do that. i'm really shocked he didn't try to talk you into one!!

Girl, if that's the dress you like, then let yourself shine thru! Just so long as you feel beautiful then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks! This is your day.

Thank you. I may just try a belt and see how it looks.

He tried one and I didn't like the flower on it so another lady brought one over and he said I would just leave the belt off. So I got the dress and veil and then later was looking at it and thought maybe it was a little too plain. I thought about finding any overskirt but I think that may be too much.

If it's what you want and think looks best, it can't be too much. you have to like the dress!

You could add a nice belt to your dress and a beaded veil. I started out with a "plain" dress and ended up returning it because everyone said it was too plain. But I've found it's much harder trying to accessorize a gown with more details and beadings.

I think it looks pretty! Is there beading at the top? I can't really see. Would you consider a sash of colored fabric (gold, champagne, silver, blush, or something to match the bridesmaids) without beading if you are worried it would clash with the beading already on the dress?

I don't think a belt would clash! Try to put a belt on that matches the top, and instead of putting the belt on mid waist, try putting it around the hip area. You look beautiful in it!

I think it's fine as is. A simpler dress means you get to go wild on accessories Smiley smile

As someone with a simple dress, it's all in the fit and accessories. A plain dress will look incredibly classic later down the road.

Dramatic drop earrings and cuffe or necklace in place of earrings (not both) would be amazing with this dress - where the dress the way you want. Too much bling orgoing on can look cheap and make people look heavier than they are. You need to do what you want belt or no belt. then sell it girl, just sell itSmiley smile

I agree with the fact that you could add a belt and as long as you get one that goes well with the top, you'll be fine.

Another thing that might add more to it is shoes! You really have the potential to do something fun with your shoes!

Don't worry about what other people think- you have to be comfortable in the dress. The best thing about a simpler dress is going crazy with the accessories!!!! Have fun with it!
