Help, I'm Stir Crazy

Terra, on May 26, 2019 at 9:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
I'm going on a trip right now with a group from my university. I've been on this charter bus for nearly 12 hours and still have at least 4 more to go. 😥 So let's talk! What's your favorite part of planning so far? Your most stressful moment? What kind of venue are you going with? Anything super special you're incorporating? What do you absolutely refuse to have/do at the wedding? If I wanted to do the shoe game at the reception, where on the schedule would that go? Lol.
Somebody, anybody, I'm dying here! 😂

My favorite part of planning has to be buying decorations for the wedding! The most stressful has to be paying for everything that needs to be paid Smiley laugh

And what's the shoe game? First time I've heard about that!

Favorite part so far: wedding wire! And looking at wedding favors
Most stressful moments: talking about last names
Venue: it's a building in a quiet park. Lots of windows. Only comes with tables and chairs so the rest is up to us. But we get to bring our own alcohol! And choose our catering!
Something special being included: I'm requesting our officiant to quote a statement of our previous President somewhere in our ceremony.
What do I refuse to have: jazz music

    What about you?

I've seen it done in a few different ways and called different things, but it's where the bride and groom sit back to back with their shoes off. You have your own shoe in one hand and your partner's in the other. Someone asks questions/makes statements and you hold up the shoe of the person that fits it best. I've only seen it done at receptions a couple of times, it's normally an engagement party game. I've wanted to do it for a while and we're not having an engagement party so I'm trynna weasel it into the reception lol.

My recommendation for the shoe game, and any other sort of spectating event would be to donit during dinner. Most people will still be seated and easy to get their attention. Plus, if the dance floor is "hot", you dont have to kill it and then do the game and hope dancing picks back up.

Yay, DIY alcohol! Our venue doesn't care if we bring it in ourselves, but they require a bartender with a catering license to serve it. 🙄
My something special is definitely my dad's ashes. We got cremation jewelry when he passed away, and I'm going to have my trinket on me. I'm trying to decide if I should wear it somewhere or have it pinned to my bouquet. Speaking of bouquets, I absolutely refuse to have a bouquet/garter toss! I hate them sooo much. 😅

See, I kinda figured that was the best time, but I don't know if I could convince FH to do it if it would cut into his eating time, lol.

Ha. Well, you do get to go first so maybe you can wait til you're finished. Try approaching it that way.

What's your favorite part of planning so far? Picking out everything: decor, flowers, cake, printed materials.

Your most stressful moment? Finding a ring for my FH- he doesn't know what he wants but somehow had a million opinions lol

What kind of venue are you going with? A gorgeous golf course with an Adriondak- style great hall.

Anything super special you're incorporating? My late grandmother's rosary will be incorporate into my bouquet.

What do you absolutely refuse to have/do at the wedding? My FH wanted a few heavy metal songs during the ceremony. That was a firm no from me.

What's your favorite part of planning so far- every part of it! I love really every minute of planning! Definitely my favorite moment was finding my dress.

Your most stressful moment- not overwhelming but just organizing vendor list and making sure I gave everyone the deposits!

What kind of venue are you going with?- it’s the back yard of a huge house but it’s specifically designed to host weddings so it’s huge and has a ceremony area!

anything super special you're incorporating- my brother is walking me down the isle and my other brother is our officiant

What do you absolutely refuse to have/do at the wedding-cell phones out during the ceremony

If I wanted to do the shoe game at the reception, where on the schedule would that go? Haha I have seen that game and it’s super cute but don’t think we are going to play it

That does sound stressful. Because most of the heavy details aren't being handled by us, I don't think there's been any stressful part of the planning. At least not yet. Best of luck with yours!
