Help! i hate my dress alterations and armpit fat!

Lina, on April 6, 2018 at 9:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40
I went in for my third fitting. This was after they hemmed the dress (first fitting) and took it in (second fitting). There are so many things I hate about the way my dress looks and the damn shop owner talked me out of making changes. But after crying to my mom over the phone she thinks I need to march in there and demand changes.

Anyway - besides being so tight I can’t take a deep breath (which the owner said it was supposed to fit like that), I have armpit fat. Does anyone know how to make this better? My girlfriend told me that it might have been the push up cups that were sewn in. And that normal cups may not result in the armpit fat. Any other ideas!? Maybe if the top was let out a tiny bit there would be more room? I am trying to come up with a solution before I go back to the shop and complain. The owner just kept saying to stand up straight and push shoulder back and that would solve the problem. But it didn’t really.

h - and the length is a problem. It’s about a half inch too long. Aren’t wedding gowns supposed to only graze the floor and not drag a tiny bit!? The shop owner said it’s fine but I hate the idea of people stepping on it even after it’s bustled.

If you’re not happy with it, then go back and demand they fix it. You deserve to be comfortable and happy on your day. Regarding the armpit fat, I don’t see it in your pictures (which are beautiful by the way) but I’m also not sure of a solution.

I’m not a seamstress but “the girls” look too big for the top. If you have push-up inserts maybe take them out?
also the center of the dip in the top isn’t centered with your cleavage.
From the way your waist looks at its Tiniest part, the belt is lower... I always thought that was suppose to be AT the tiniest part of your waist.

I agree with your Mom. Tell the seamstress you're not happy and not comfortable and you want it fixed. For the seamstress to say stand up straight and put your shoulders back, well you're not going to be standing like that all night. You need to be able to move, dance and sit in the dress too.

Not a professional whatsoever, but to me it doesn't look like armpit fat. It looks like your breasts are not only pushed up, but in, causing that "armpit fat" effect. I would definitely demand for them to let out the top a bit to allow room for the girls.
Are you wearing heels in the photo? The dress looks a tad too long to me if you are.

I dont see the armpit fat either.. but it does look like your chest is in danger of coming out of the top of the dress. You rock the dress with your figure though! If its uncomfortably tight, have it let out. It's not worth worrying about all night.

I agree dress is just a tad too long. Your figure is amazing and I see no arm pit fat but you may be trying to camouflage it in the photos?

Also agree with PP that the belt should be in smallest part of your waist.

Beautiful dress, though I think the length problem is due to the fact it looks like the top needs to come up a bit. I think if they let it out so that you can breath, which you may want to do on the day, then it may come to where it should be on top and in length. Remember, you're the customer, you PAID for the dress and for it to be done right.... tactfully go back and get it done that way. Best of luck

You are the customer and are paying them to do what you want. Go back and ask them to raise the hem and remove the push-up inserts. You look amazing in the dress!

Yes 100% agree with this! Don't let someone talk you out of what you wanted from the beginning! No one can "stand up straight" and keep their shoulders back for an entire wedding. Plus, what are you, not supposed to be able to eat? Sounds like she knows she made a mistake is trying not to have to do anymore work.

Your a paying customer so ultimately what u say goes. I do understand how it can be hard to argue the fit with people who "professuonally" Do alterations but its your day and u want to be comfortable so make that your point to her. If she tries to argue remind her that your the customer and what you want us what she need to do! Good luck & btw I think you look beautiful!

It almost looks to me like it is sitting too low- is that a possibility? Because then the belt would be in the right spot and your breasts wouldn't be spilling out.

I agree there is a problem. The dress is beautiful on you but it is not fitted right and something needs to be done.

I agree it looks like it's sitting low. Maybe it's too tight right now that you wouldn't be able to pull it up, but pulling it up might solve all the problems, including the length. I will say I see no armpit fat. The dress is beautiful and you deserve to FEEL beautiful on your wedding day. Go back and demand they fix it. That woman sounds so rude, but you paid them so you deserve the dress to be altered correctly.

No armpit fat. Your girls are too big for the top. If there are cups, I would take them out or downsize them in terms of thickness. Maybe that would also bring up the dress some. Until then, I wouldn’t mess with the length or belt because those may correct with that change.

Actually I take that back. Your torso widens too much on top compared to the dress. I would have them let out the sides a little so the whole dress shifts up a little.

The dress itself looks like you can't get it up over your chest which implies the cups may not be needed and may be causing the "armpit fat" you're seeing in the dress, maybe see if you can have them taken out and have the sides let out of the top of the dress.

Don't take no for an answer either, if someone told me to walk around looking like a pencil for MY entire wedding day so as not to wreck THEIR work, I'd be pretty angry with their service.

Agree with pps. It looks like the push up cups are throwing off the fit of the top, but I don’t see armpit fat

Fight for what you want. It's your wedding day you need to be comfortable and be able to wear the dress on your day. I think it could be hemmed up about half an inch I wouldn't go too far with it. I don't see the arm fat issue you mentioned but its about how you feel.

Your dress is beautiful! But I feel it looks too low on the girls. They look like any moment they might come out. And I think this is causing the armpit fat illusion. Also the belt should go up a tad bit. And if you are wearing your heels then yes it’s too long

I agree with the pp. The dress does look a tad long if you aren't putting on different shoes. As for the arm pit fat, I think it's to night in the top of your dress. Yours girls look uncomfortable and that is creating an illusion of the fat. If you are unhappy with the alterations do you still have time to go somewhere else? That is what I would do if they kept aruging with me about my dress and what I want to feel comfortable.
Your dress is amazing btw. And it really shows off your awesome figure
