Help! I almost love my dress.....

ZimWifey, on September 13, 2017 at 6:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

Ok, I need alterations advice. Went today for my second fitting and dress is coming along well. They took in the waist but now the dress is puckering in the front and I don't like it. If I pull the dress down the puckering goes away but comes back when I move/dance. They said that it would be hard to fix this without making the dress too tight. Right now it feels just right and I can sit comfortably. Should i insist that it is fixed or consider taking it elsewhere? Is this a small thing that I should let go? I don't have much time left...

Can they add boning to (or extend the further in) the dress? My seamstress did this, and it helped the puckering immensely.

If it's puckering it actually means it's too tight in that area. This happened with mind and they're letting the front seams out a bit so that dress falls naturally. I'm surprised the seamstress didn't tell you that.

Yah I'd suggest boning as well. it isn't too noticeable but if it bugs you now, it will in photos later

@Erin- interesting. It's feels pretty loose but I can discuss this with them. Today I was getting a bustle done so this wasn't my main focus but after looking at pics it's bothersome.

Omg we're dress twins!! I wonder if maybe they took it in too far down your waist so now your hip bones are pushing the fabric up when you walk? Or maybe it's too loose in the hips now too, it's hard to tell from the pictures. You look gorgeous though!!!

    Okay, because you asked....

I'm not liking that fabric folding that's happening just below your stomach. I'm not sure if that makes the dress more comfortable to move in or not. Just telling you what I see. All I can suggest is that you pull the gown tight at the ceremony and during your photos.

Just saw the most recent picture and you have a gorgeous figure! Did you change the undergarments at all? I would definitely bring it up! That dress on you is beautiful

Thanks @Rachel and DoubleU. I didn't wear any undergarments except my panties. I will buy some spanx and hopefully pop in for another fitting this week or next to discuss just this issue. I wish I could post this video I have in it- it's definitely positional but knowing me all my photos will come out like this and I will be mad.

What are you wearing as far as undergarments? If you are wearing a body shaped that goes down onto your legs, you could safety pin (from the inside of course!) the dress to your undergarments to keep it from riding up

@Lauren- you're a genius! Most importantly that will cost me nothing (minus the cost of a safety pin). The $300 I've already spent on these alterations is enough.

In the first picture it almost looks like the dress is too long in the front for how it is sitting on the floor and the skirt is pushing it up.
