Help! How do i pick?

Lexi70, on May 15, 2021 at 9:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Had my first dress appointment today! I went to David’s and had a really great experience. Tried on about 10 dresses and narrowed it down to 2. Both are very different. One is a fit and flare and the other is a very slight a- line which is almost a straight column shape. Love how both look. The only possible issue is the a-line is being phased out so sizing was very limited. I would have to order 2 sizes up and get it altered down to my size. The alterations would be about half the cost of the dress itself. Should I be worried about this?

What did you do to make a decision. If you were torn?
Also how comfy are fit and flares? The one I tried was barely fitting so it was hard to tell.

Do you know the model number of the dresses? Mine was a discontinued a-line that they only had available in a size 6 for $600 (originally $1200). When I finally went to go try on dresses, the location I went to just happened to have the floor sample in a size 10, which fit. Since it was the sample it definitely needed some cleaning up but it was only $300.

I almost bought it but didn't.
The next day my sister had found a few on Poshmark and then I was able to find a new with tags in my size for $210 including shipping on EBay. Dress arrived as promised in the DB bag with tags in perfect condition. There are a few a secondhand dress stores online but I'd recommend just looking up by the model number and see what comes up. For me, the bonus is that I scored the dress for such a low price (still need alterations of course which will still be a lot) but I loved the dress so much that I was *this* close to buying the sample because it was a discontinued style.

I had 2 favorites, one was a fit and flare and one was a soft A-line. Everyone else liked them both too, but liked the fit and flare the best. I ended up picking the soft A-line because it was the one that I loved the most and I knew it because I didn't want to take it off.

I would try on more dresses just to be sure you like the look and the feel of the silhouette you’re choosing and who knows, there may be a dress out there that you don’t feel torn about

The dress you don’t want to take off is the winner. Then after you decide, quit looking.

I had two I loved - fit and flare and a ball gown and I ended up getting the fit and flare and it’s beautiful! Do what you truly love - that moment when you look in the mirror and think “wow, I’m a beautiful bride.”

It's only your first appointment!! Keep trying on dresses, if you can't find anything else you love as much, come back to David's to try on one more time and buy. I went to 4 or 5 bridal appointments and it really helped to try on more dresses.

I found my dress at my first appointment - and had two that I really loved. I put them on back to back. The one I chose was the one I never wanted to take off.
