Help - high neck wedding dress... but no accessories seem to work.

Laura, on June 20, 2019 at 2:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

I have a high neck halter wedding gown in white lace (the whole dress is lace with an underlay so there is texture and pattern). Clearly a necklace is out and long earrings seem right. Still, the veil seems out of place unless it's set low in the back. And a tiara/headpiece seems to fight either the vibe or it's too much texture. How the heck are you guys working this out? Has anyone else had this problem? Similar to this... no belt.

Have you considered a birdcage veil?

Hahaha I hear you it’s tough trying to pull a whole look together. I literally took pictures of everything I wanted and then printed them out and placed them near each other to see if they would go. During my first fitting I’ll take all of the things I purchased and try them on. When you said high neck halter I thought studs/or button type earrings would go. Not sure if you’re looking for advice on specific things, if so maybe posting a picture of your dress would help. Totally get not wanting to post your dress too lolol

Do you have any pictures of the dress with a veil you've tried on? Do you want the look of a long veil, or if you feel a veil isn't looking balanced with your dress would you prefer some kind of comb or big clip instead? Then it wouldn't compete with a halter dress at all

I added a photo of a dress above, that is very similar to mine. Mine has a train but a small one.

Do you want a veil, or would a hair clip suit you?

I grabbed a handful of pics from WeddingWire's Pinterest of hairstyles that I thought could work for a halter or other high neck dress - do any work for you?

You seem like you have it all figured out. A low set veil, earrings, no necklace.

A long veil with lace trimming on the bottom of it with a low ponytails bun would be perfect. I have lace and the mesh going up my neck too and thu did the perfect veil for it. Don’t mind my face lol

I was wondering if a tiara would be overkill, or if simpler earring might tone things down to be viable... Just not sure which way to go, so I wanted options. Smiley smile

I had a halter neck dress not as high as this but I’m not big on jewelry so I picked drop earrings just small and I had a headpiece that was dramatic. My veil was set low and everything worked well together. My dress wasn’t full lace like yours and I think it depends how busy your veil is. Like a mantilla or anything embroider in the corners close to the top might be too much. I think in this pictures you can see my dress, earrings and hair piece from different angles.

They are beautiful and you are stunning. I'm not usually one for jewelry either. I think I'll Terry a look like yours. I choose a veil with lace edge, but the edging starts at the elbow... It made it unique and it didn't add to how busy it all feels.

I tried this dress on when I was dress hunting! Honestly, if it was me, I would keep it simple with accessories. The dress is already very busy-looking with all the lace, so to me, whatever the model has on (the earrings and belt) is enough. A tiara in my opinion may be too much.

    Thank you so much!
Love the lace from elbow down I think that will keep you free on top. Great choice!
